About
Built in the 1400s, The George & Pilgrim is the oldest purpose-built pub in the South West of England. Located in Glastonbury, it is steeped in history and old tales. The building has a paneled stone frontage, mullion windows, and old oak beams. All of its suites feature a TV and tea and coffee-making facilities, and some have impressively draped four-poster beds. Guests are welcome to enjoy an aperitif or traditional ale in the charming Pilgrim’s bar. The hotel also has a superb restaurant with an à la carte menu, offering fresh, succulent homemade food.

Pros +
- The architecture, furnishings, and overall atmosphere were all absolutely beautiful. I stayed in the "Confessional" themed room, which was well kept and perfect for my partner and I. We really enjoyed our stay! I certainly felt the era of the Inn.
- The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was completely clean and modernized.
- We did not have breakfast
Cons -
- I almost killed myself on the last step coming down from the stairs. Perhaps some fluorescent tape or something highlighting the last step
- I have nothing negative to say about the property.
- Knowing about the bell ringing in the town would have been good to have warming went on fur nearly 2 hours at night ??

Loved the historic site! For an old building it is well maintained. The decor and aesthetics were delightful. Loved the tea and biscuits in the room. Beds were comfortable. Loved that there was a restaurant and pub on site.
I have nothing negative to say about the property.
Building was beautiful WarmDinner was gorgeous gluten free fish and chips

Very old and atmospheric, and central to the town. The food was excellent.
Food takes a while to get to the table.
Beautiful historic Inn. Staff were amazing and it was right in the center of everything!
My room was in one of the older sections along the street and above the Pub. Naturally sound was an issue until about midnight, but didn’t bother me. For some however a room in the back might be a better option.
cosy feeling to the whole building and lovely staff always willing to help.
Windows didnt block out much noise in the morning, but its a quiet location anyway
Parking nearby (behind) hotel. Hotel staff helpful.
No major issues.
Location was great. The pub ambiance is lovely. The bar servers, Sunday roast dinner and morning breakfast and staff really great. Check in was ok.
Room doesn’t actually have a number but a name which was a bit confusing. The room we booked and requested was to have a king size bed which we didn’t get. The bed we did get was only a full size and was so very hard and uncomfortable, neither of us slept well. Unfortunately the pillows too were old and hard. The room looks so cute but that means nothing if you can’t actually sleep. The showered head also would not stay up.
Great location. Helpful staff. Fab breakfast.
Access to the second floor bedroom was via two seriously windy / steep staircases which was a bit difficult for me as I have mobility problems. That said the manager helped me with my bags on the way in. Also the internet / wifi set up is a bit weird (managed to get it sorted eventually!)
Beautiful building. Great location. Staff lovely.. Old and quaint. What you would expect for such an old building..
Food not so good. Fish pie was all mashed potato and no fish..
My room was incredibly comfortable and beautiful. I loved the location and how close it was to local attractions. I also loved the breakfast!
Not enough staff members on the property.
Very comfortable. Big room. Big bathroom. Good shower/bath and hot water. Location was brilliant. History of it was awesome! Love the historical decor (part of the wonderful charm going back to 1452!!!) and if the walls could talk of centuries past, wow! We ate dinner in the restaurant, great food, great service from our waiter.
The walls are thin. We could hear a couple having sex next door (LOTS of moaning) and every word of another conversation in the room on the opposite side - all at 11.30pm - 12am. But that was just when we were trying to sleep. Rest of the time it was fine.
Loved the building. Built in the 1400’s. The restaurant was excellent.and not expensive We ate there for dinner and breakfast. Located a block from Glastonbury Abby.
History, location
Dining not very good. Breakfast offerings not very good. Extremely nice wait and bar staff, though!
Originally built in 1439 (according to Wikipedia), the Inn is an historic marvel. Our room was comfortable and clean. It seems like, at some point (100 years ago?) they installed indoor plumbing and converted two bedrooms into one bedroom with a private bath (I'm just guessing). Of course, with a building so old, the floors aren't quite level, and our room was a bit small (but not bad). That being said, the location is great. We enjoyed our drinks and meals. The back of the hotel opens to the convenient St. Johns Parking Lot. That is where you should park.
It was in town. However, our room was above the beer garden and it was noisy even with ear plugs. The housekeeping staff did a very good job keeping it clean.
Room was very cramped for 2 beds. We could barely move around.
Lots of character, breakfast was good, as was the pub
Very run down, no minbar, no tissues
The quirky old building
The bathroom was smelly, dank. Breakfast Don't bother, no one in the room was happy. Waiting 40 minutes wasn't helpful, then nothing exceptional followed.
