    Pros +

    • Beautiful hotel in an amazing historic building. We were visiting our daughter who is at uni in Bath, and we treated ourselves to a night here when dropping her back after Christmas. Easy parking at Charlotte Street a short walk away. I'm sure there are closer car parks, but that's the one we always use. We were upgraded to a beautiful large room which was stunningly furnished. The bathroom was absolutely gorgeous and the restaurant looked amazing (unfortunately we had already committed to having breakfast with our other daughter in Bristol) - but we'll definitely take advantage of the breakfast another time!
    • Very cosy room and well kept. Fantastic location. After hours check-in was super easy.
    • This small hotel outclassed most large ones. Based on two buildings one in North Passage and the other in Abbey Square. We stayed in latter in basement with a dungeon bathroom that was very well equipped with his and hers showers. Fine lighting with good reading lights, excellent ventilation. Rooms tastefully decorated with good heating and facilities. Fine breakfasts nicely served. Staff kind and helpful. Everywhere was sparkling clean.

    Cons -

    • We were in a separate building on the square opposite a pub, so it was a bit noisy until quite late with a few pubgoers treating us to a bit of raucous singing as they were leaving! I think we would prefer to stay in the main building on the side street next time we stay.
    • Staircase is quite old and tight, so it was a struggle to get our large luggage up to our room on the 3rd floor.
    • Started with poor telephone response. The hallways of our hotel were impermeated wtih a heavy and unpleasant scent. The taxi we booked to leave hotel did not turn up on time. Whilst not the hotel's fault they need not to use this 'casual' service. When you have to catch a train it does not wait! Prices were on the high side but service compensated

Fantastic hotel and location - perfect for exploring Bath. Rooms were lovely and very big.

Could hear people walking around in the room above ours - was very noisy first thing in the morning.

Great location. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Extremely friendly staff. Lovely honesty bar. Good breakfast.

    Location, style and comfort

The noise! Our room was located in the ground floor and you could hear the front door but it wasn’t too much of a problem. There was nothing else wrong

Great location, spotlessly clean, friendly staff

Very noisy once everyone was leaving the bars, up until about 3am & the bells from the Abbey chiming could be heard every 1/2 hr so did not sleep very well

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff and the room was perfect.

Great location. Decent room size and friendly staff.

Lower ground floor room which was humid and suffered from a lot of noise of people leaving and entering the building.

The location and the cleanliness of the rooms. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

    We couldn’t stay for longer!

Beautiful decor very fitting for the property. Staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Slightly noisy at times but expected due to age of property!

Great location, great rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bonus of a lovely lunge and honesty bar for when there were no staff at the hotel.

    10LouisePosted on: 1-19-2026

The staff were really polite, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is split into 2 buildings, we were in the courtyard section which we absolutely loved! It’s in a really central location and only a 5 minute walk from the train station. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. Even the entrance smelled lovely as soon as you walked through the door. I would definitely stay here again!

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like

Just a unique simple but brilliant hotel - it’s for grown ups - trust , clean , staff great , wonderful L location … loved it

The only thing to improve would be adding sky sports to the tv offerings .. but that’s minor / I used my iPad as the WiFi was great !’

The location is fantastic, almost right next to the Abbey! The size of the room and amenities were beyond our expectation. I loved the bathroom with 2 showers. I would totally stay there again when visiting Bath.

Everything was perfect but the only little thing is that we stayed on the lowest level of the building so we could hear the people walking above us. But I understand this happens being an old building.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had everything you needed and was very comfortable and clean.

Unfortunately, on our last day we had to pick up our suitcases earlier than we would have liked as the reception closed at 4 pm. Had a problem with the TV which after a bit of fault finding found that the aerial cable had been disconnected. It would also have been nice to have internet services on the Tv such as IPlayer etc.
