About

With large private gardens, YHA Bath is set in a stunning Italian-style mansion, 10 minutes’ walk from Bath city center. It offers affordable accommodations, laundry facilities and a restaurant. There are 2 buildings, one of which is listed. Each morning hearty cooked breakfasts are served in the dining areas, which also offers home-cooked meals in the evenings. Guests can also use the large shared kitchen facilities. The TV lounge has lovely garden views, comfortable sofas and a TV. The bar serves a variety of drinks including local ales, and Wi-Fi access is available in public areas of the property. Bath is a World Heritage City and features Roman Baths and stunning Georgian architecture. Bath’s Spa Train Station and the Bath Golf Club are around 20-30 minutes' walk away. The majority of rooms contain bunk beds. If you are driving through the city to the hostel, please check if your vehicle will be charged in Bath's clean air zone and if you need to pay online via the Bath & North East Somerset Council website. The hostel is outside Bath's clean air zone so charges will not apply unless driving through the city.

    Pros +

    • Room is fairly clean and tidy
    • Everything was good ..accommodated a disabled person great
    • The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were basic but still comfy and clean. Food prices were affordable.

    Cons -

    • Room door was making cracking noise all night . Hence, didn¿t sleep even for 5 minutes. Secondly, room was overcrowded with 8 people
    • There was no provision to park cars anywhere on the property and left to the streets.
    • The only complaint was all of the stairs and doors to get to our rooms.

So many amenities! Loved that there was a place to cook our own food or order in. The morning breakfast was convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The only complaint was all of the stairs and doors to get to our rooms.

    The staff and price

Sorry, but room on top floor somewhat challenging, and not for people who are elderly or handicapped.

The hostel was great. Staff were so friendly and helpful. This was my first solo trip and they made me feel very comfortable It was clean and comfortable. The latte at the coffee bar was amazing I also had dinner there and it was very good. Staff helped with storage of my luggage before check in, as well as the bus schedule to and from city center.

    Staff are helpful

Wifi was weak but the connection for my own data network was also not working too so I dont think its on the hotel’s end

Great view! Lots of history at the location. Bigger hostel with nice small restaurant but also a kitchen for visitors to use. Rooms well secured and didn't feel cramped.

The shower bathroom in our room had a mold problem and smell was overwhelming. My food was stolen from the common fridge ... which I was told "happens" but I have not seen in my 30 years of travel and even at bigger hostels. Location is pretty far from center and up a really steep hill.

Gorgeous building. Very clean. Pleasant staff. Stiff uphill walk, but otherwise a fine location.

The hill one must climb to reach you

    10MillsPosted on: 9-20-2025

Good location, easy walk to city centre and good transportation to hostel. Manager very pleasant and helpful.

Beautiful hostel and location, very quiet, exceptionally clean and friendly staff. Also the rooms are very spacious and not cramped like your typical hostel.

The location on top of the hill is stunning, however that requires you to either walk 30 minutes uphill or take a bus. The walk is beautiful though, so you just have to be aware and plan some time in.

The building itself was very nice and inviting. They offer food.

It is somehow far away fromDowntown. You need to take the bus.

Loved the location. Loved the price. Loved how quiet it was.

Our room had a wall of windows that wasn’t private- people kept walking by and looking in- we couldn’t close the curtains because we needed the windows open because it was very hot.

Kitchen was quite nice and big, despite not having stovetops. Nice common area/cafe to hang out in.

The window in our room was bolted so as to now allow us to open it very much. There were five locked doors to have to go through to reach the room which was tiresome. They only gave us one keycard for three people which made it difficult to move between the room and common area. They don't allow you to drink your own alcohol in the building.

In loved the spaciousness of the room and the cleanliness. The staff were super friendly and beautiful surrounds ..

Very welcoming and friendly staff.Excellent locationVery clean

We stayed at the hostel for 2 nights. We were allocated different rooms for each night. This was not ideal. We preferred the room in the main building. We stayed at the YHS for our evening meal on Monday 28th April. Sadly many of the items on the menu were unavailable, so we had a very limited choice.

Location and view of Bath city from the hilltop was great.

The room we stayed in was way too hot and uncomfortable to the point it was sweating through the night. Also, at dinner, the magarita pizza was served with a substitute as mozzarella was unavailable and this ruined the pizza. At least, this could have been informed upfront. The entire pizza went to waste, we couldn't eat a bite. I understand there was a big crowd of students checking in for dinner and the kitchen was overloaded , but, this situation could have been easily managed with timely communication. These little niggles in a way let down to what was otherwise a great visit and stay in Bath. I believe this was just one of those odd evenings. The staff were very friendly in general.

This property is on a beautiful property and the facility is clean and attractive. Though the bathrooms are shared, there are sinks in the rooms and the bathrooms are clean. The cafe is very nice, as are the lounge areas with comfortable seating and ample games. Good for families!

The location was a little more difficult to access downtown on foot, largely because Bath is a very hilly area, and it would be difficult to walk up and down into town. However, there is an easily accessible city bus into town.

    Safe, friendly, clean.
