Cons -
- The view from the balcony wasnt the best as it is at the back of the hotel.
- I was really disappointed with our recent stay. I’ve stayed at this hotel before and previously found the rooms to be fresh, serene, and a good size, with thoughtful touches like bottled water and quality toiletries. The beds were luxurious and very comfortable, which is why I was genuinely looking forward to returning, especially as we had stayed here for our 1st anniversary. On this occasion, we were offered an upgrade to a balcony room, which I accepted — unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake. The room was located at the back of the hotel and was much smaller than expected. The balcony overlooked an untidy allotment and felt cramped rather than relaxing. The furniture was dated, with dark, scratched wood that reminded me of an old budget hotel. While the bed was large, it was extremely firm, as were the pillows, and I didn’t get a wink of sleep. The walls also seemed paper-thin, as we could hear other guests making noise at around 2am.The bathroom was also quite dated, with a small shower and doors that were difficult to open and close. It was particularly disappointing as this stay was for our 10th anniversary, making it a special occasion for us. Sadly, I had one of the worst nights’ sleep I can remember and left feeling very let down by the room. That said, the location is convenient, with a bus stop nearby for access into town, and the restaurant itself is pleasant. However, there was a long wait for food, and when it did arrive, it was only lukewarm.Overall, this stay did not live up to our previous experience, which is a real shame.
- The parking. The room I was in was noisy from staff I think sitting outside, also there was a container outside my window full of cigarette buts not the ideal thing you want to see.

Prime location for what I needed. Loved my little balcony. Bed was very comfortable. The fridge in the room was a lifesaver. Everything was very clean.
Unfortunately many of the other guests were inconsiderate. Up late at night and loud and slamming doors and others up very early in the morning talking loudly.
The staff were exceptional, no request too much and went out of their way to help and assist. They also did so with a smile on their faces and really looked as if they were enjoying their jobs.Massive room with a very comfortable super king size bed. The room and bathroom were clean and warm. The food was very good quality and quantity was just right, also reasonably priced.
Nothing really. If I was to offer any constructive criticism at all- 1. The fridge in the room probably needs to be sitting on a cabinet or table as opposed to the floor.2. There was a few cosmetic decorating issues especially around the windowsill that need completing. All in all, these points did not distract from the stay and I'm only mentioning them for your information
Over all outstanding , shout out to Jay our server wentt out of his way for us! Food incredible atmosphere brilliantStaff friendly
Our room was cold to the extent we had to put the hairdryer on
We stayed for Hogmanay. The dinner in the restaurant was very good as was the service. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning, plenty of choices and hot food cooked to order. . It has parking but limited. A nice little bar area. Our room number 9 was very comfortable and quiet with a big walk in shower. The hotel is walkable to many shops and cafés and on a bus route. There is an elevator to rooms and tea/coffee in the room.
The only disappointment was no free drink for the bells. I also expected better toiletries in the room bathroom. The curtains were a little tired in our room.
Very comfy bed & great big shower. And a great breakfast.
Nothing, it’s a very nice smallish hotel with nice friendly staff .
Staff and restaurant were very good
Room was superb and a very grateful upgrade. However looks ready for a refurb as carpet tired snd grubby along with other fixtures and fittings
Great location. Nice Scottish decor and modern bathroom
Room was cold on arrival so I switched on heaters but the room took about 3 hours to feel warm. Bathroom heater was adjustable but room one had no visible control so I woke in the night too hot and switched it off. Also there was a large fly in the room when I arrived. I swatted it and killed it but by morning there was another one. Not sure where they were coming from. The lady on Reception to check me in was not very friendly or welcoming. She asked me to sign a 3 page document which had such small print I couldn't read it. I wasn't given a copy so didn't know what it said. However the man on Reception in the morning was friendly and helpful. He let me take a photo of the document and explained it was 'just the conditions of your stay'
Warm, close to where we were visiting, friendly, and food is good.
Mattress was perhaps a little lumpy
Beautiful decor, great food and very helpful staff!
Couldn’t get a car parking space but plenty parking around and about!
Breakfast was ok and dinners were good
No shelf to put things in the bathroom.
Beautifully decorated food very good
Obnoxious barmanRoom nine curtains all torn looks shabby and other window mouldy
Comfortable beds, everything was very clean and staff were friendly
Parking was an issue
The room was a good size, had OK amenities. Check in was fine and the staff were very friendly. It was clean and tidy. I
The room (16) had a whirring noise that continued all night throughout the night which was obviously some sort of machine. The room was OK, but very basic, there was a kettle but the plug was not reachable from the desk so it had to be on the bedside table. The bed wasn't very comfy.
Very poor service shocking waited...
Room poor. Cold and cold shower
The Staff and the food . Always a very good welcome and a comfortable stay.
Maybe the room was looking a bit tired or need or refurbishment. The curtains were ripped in the room (9)
Bar snacks were great, good size and enjoyable, well priced. Room okay and clean.
Bed was a little uncomfortable and had no give. We had a room at the front of the building which suffers from road noise, and also it was next to a fire door, so every time someone walked passed the room it was banging. The cooked breakfast was good, but the pastries and pancakes were shockingly bad. The pancakes could of been used as frizbies and the croissants used as door stops they were that hard.
Staff were lovely, polite, professional and very welcoming. Room was cosy and breakfast was delicious.
TV was small. Large smart TVs are considered standard these days.
