lovely old building with large clean well appointed bedrooms. Good breakfast and excellent evening meal.
They ran out of Stornoway blackpudding for breakfast,
Room was lovely with all the facilities neededBreakfast was included and tasted great lots of options available from cooked to continental
the trek to the room but it was worth it
Just the hotel itself ,we love old hotels and Norwood is a beautiful example
Had to wait a bit for our food but we were not in a rush and it was excellent when it did come
Good value accommodation and quality of breakfast ingredients.
Evening meal was fine, but nothing special. That, and bar prices (for a soft drink) seemed rather expensive.Would have been nice to get a small bottle of water and perhaps a biscuit in the room. In-room tea & coffee facilities were basic.
Beautiful setting.Grand building.Helpful, flexible staff (mid week)Nice breakfast (mid week)
Not a case of didn't like but the cost of a dog stay was very high compared to any other hotels we've stayed in.Saturday morning breakfast experience wasn't too good as the hotel was full so the poor staff were rather frazzled.Serving food, buffet style in the main hallway, just seemed a little chaotic. Our bedroom was a little dusty too; bedside table tops etc but, that didn't mar our stay.
Loved absolutely everything it's a beautiful place and staff are fantastic. room was massive and very comfortable, breakfast was unreal and was lovely seeing red squirrels and 5 baby deer can't wait to go back.
Very well equipped room, lovely and warm
Cold scruffy staircase/extension to get up to rooms 50 - 60
As ever, it was beautiful, comfortable and in a lovely location. The staff were so pleasant and the food was excellent.
Leaving
The room was great; very comfortable. Two comments however; light for working at the desk or when reading in the chair was poor. Additional standard lamp and desk lamp would be a great addition. Location great for my business visit. Good pricing.Cosy bar for drink before dinner. Dinner was excellent - I had Risotto
Breakfast was a poor experience. I ordered coffee and toast and it didn't arrive. Staff were not regularly in the room checking with customers. I had to go and find them at reception or in the kitchen ! I ordered coffee from another staff member and it arrived but not hot enough. I asked for a replacement and it arrived but very weak. Predictably when I asked for a third version it was too strong. I had to ask for plates to be cleared away.
It’s very luxurious, well decorated and bed was a dream.
Tad worn down in places, furnishing and woodwork needs varnishing, noticed a leak stain on a wall/ceiling in one of the hallways, lift buttons not responsive and signage not straightforwards. Lack of decent WiFi and signal - lacked modern tech as I couldn’t even read my book on my phone, so was bored and just went to bed out of annoyance. So wasn’t quite as much of a relaxing break as I was after.
Decent breakfast, the communal bar area and breakfast room are very traditional and nice places to relax. Freebie Elemis shower gel & soap always a plus
Rooms - tired looking decor/furniture in need of a refresh now. Saggy bed. Not sure Macdonald group have invested much in this regard since the last splurge around 15 years ago? Ancient TV, and fixtures. No mini fridge in the room. Nowhere near enough plug sockets let alone having them in convenient places. Still using US style sockets for lamp fittings? Lighting in the room poor. Noisy heater (the heat causing metallic expansion noises - unit needs replaced as its old)
Dinner and breakfast included in package price. Both meals were excellent. Staff were all lovely and attentive. Room larger than expected with a good supportive bed. Extremely clean. Elemis toiletries were a nice touch.
Breakfast was average, could have been a little bit warmer, buffet selection was average
While the public spaces are well kept, the bedrooms are in need of looking after, the first bedroom we were in was a little musty, the mattress was in need of replacing and no duvet, after a free upgrade to the bridal suite, the only room they had available, that to is in need of a little tlc, it’s looking tired, and the coffee making facilities need looking at, the biscuits were a week out of date, I took them to reception and informed them, but didn’t get much of a response
Clean comfortable room, great shower, lovely staff and nice breakfast.
Sorry very minor and not important, but the tomato ketchup at breakfast was poor quality.
very nice room. Great location. Friendly staff. Would come back to stay again. I like the hall very much. Like a dream. Breakfast was great too.
The original building is very special . Beautiful wood and general opulence from many moons ago
A horrible incident when the chair i was sitting on in the bar was found to have urine on it and therefore made my clothes wet. Turned out a dog had been on the chair previously and the staff member thought thats what it would be. Horrible
The grand public rooms. Very peaceful surroundings. The staff were so friendly and professional. The complementary breakfast was really good.
A little attention to details in the room - the sticky kettle, the Tv remote control needed a clean.
The hotel is lovely but needs investment. However our room was super clean and comfortable and very quite. The breakfast is awesome
The pool was not working. It should have said on booking
