Barcelo Emperatriz Hotel

There was issues with the AC in my room and I had to call the front desk and ask them to manually change the temperature from downstairs. The hairdryer that was provided by the hotel would stop working after 5 seconds due to electricity controls.

We had the nicest welcome/check in experience of any hotel we had ever stayed in. Room was very nice. Bathroom had great disposables, including a comb.

Our bedroom was a bit small and there were not enough drawers. The room could also have done with more lighting. Not enough light.

Not much light in the room

Noisy, uncomfortable and rude.

I didn’t like the noisy rooms where you can hear every step of other guests or chairs being dragged or the noisy banging of housekeeping cleaning the surrounding rooms or the constructions/gardeners noisy coming from outside due to the very poor quality of the windows they have. And on top of all that whenever we asks for utensils or a bottle opener they asked us to go to the lobby for it or it would be a charge of 10€ per service, which was ridiculous and unheard of at a 5 star hotel. I’ve had better service at 4 star hotels. Also there was dust everywhere coming out of the ac and mold in the shower. And a clogged sink.

the pictures showing the rooms do not adjust to reality. Our Tranquility room had little light from the windows that opened onto the hotel's patio. The weak lighting in the room and bathroom is maybe cozy but not suitable for judging your shaving, or for my wife, her makeup. Although not small, the distribution is such that 2 suitcases cannot be well accomodated.

Property was clean, modern, well maintained. Staff were friendly

Gym, bed mattress, location was not as good as I expected, 1km walk to Salamanca.

Not much shops around

I stayed 2 days, 12/20 and 12/21. our room number is #604 and #605. I checked out 12/22 10:00am, and found out all our cash gone! Super frustrated! Everything was good until last night. And the only time we were without our bag was the breakfast time. Somebody went to our room took all of our cash!! it is around $500 USD and $250 Euro! And few hundreds RMB too.We went down for breakfast this morning around 8:30am, we left our bags and wallets in the room only like 30min. Undeliverable!!! Not safe hotel!

Bed was exceptionally good, the breakfast had all variety of foods and very fresh. The location was good as well keeping in mind closeness to university

It’s in Salamanca, an affluent part of Madrid and out of the city centre. Great if you don’t want to be amid the hustle and bustle. Lovely rooftop bar. Pool is small but great for kids if you bring them. The breakfast was just heaven. I’d return for the brekkie alone.Loved it.Would recommend.

Clean, sleek and well located

From the time you walk in the staff was amazing. White glove service from beginning to end. Incredibly professional and friendly staff. Centrally located but away from the huge crowds. This is considered one of the best areas of Madrid and the ambience is quiet and sophisticated. The rooms were elegant, impeccable and very comfortable. The popcorn in the lobby was a great touch, especially for the kids. There are plenty of places to eat in the area. However the restaurant in the hotel serves excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is my new go to hotel in Madrid.

Family room is a great option for families, breakfast is very good, staff is charming.
