    Pros +

    • Located right off Gran Via
    • Dont book here they dont...
    • The room was clean and very well located

    Cons -

    • Restroom was EXTREMELY small. Front of toilet was located 6” away from shower stall, imagine trying to sit in on the toilet and having to split your legs as wide as you can while sitting down to do your thing!. Shower stall was so small and cramped.
    • Nobody speaks english when checking in , beds were slept before and just tucked in they didnt clean the room before check in , they didnt solve any of our problems. The first night we had to stay overnight because we had traveled a very long way from Barcelona. We slept with our clothes on the beds because of the filth; the beds were full of dead skin and hair. When we came back for an early check-out the next day, the room hadn't been cleaned despite our requests and warnings.
    • There is no soundproofing whatsoever, you can hear absolutely everything from the road and within the hostel itself.

I am writing to formally complain about the handling of my reservation in Madrid on [specific street/main road].I booked a high-floor room with a view, a private bathroom, and prioritized safety. Upon arrival, the hotel staff informed me that Booking.com had not transferred the payment. They wrote by hand in their language that the reservation was “cancelled” and signed it while speaking with their manager. As a result:I was denied access to the room I paid for.I could not use the breakfast included, even though I paid for it.I was charged money without receiving any service, which is unacceptable.Your proposal to offer partial Travel Credit is completely inadequate. I demand a full refund, because I received nothing from this reservation.I have documented proof of the handwritten cancellation and the hotel’s refusal to let me in. I urge you to review hotel records and cameras if needed. This situation constitutes mishandling, financial negligence, and potential fraud. This message also serves as formal proof that I have attempted to resolve this matter directly with Booking.com before escalating it to consumer protection authorities or other regulatory bodies.I expect confirmation of a full refund immediately.

The hostel is in a perfect location. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. They serve breakfast in the rooftop that has a nice city view.

I paid extra money for my room which was gonna have a city view but because of the exterior insulation of the building the windows in my room were covered with canvas sheet. The hostel didn't tell us anything about the construction before we come. One of the two receptionists doesn't speak English.

    Location was very central

A better explanation to the main entrance would help, as the building was under maintenance and one wouldn't know where the entrance is.We didn't have hot water in the morning on the 3rd day, which was rectified later on in the day.The lift broke down on the 3rd day for the full day, which was repaired later on at night. luckily there was another lift

Very handy and walkable to most tourist spots.. Very handy to transpo be it metro or bus.. The breakfast area so nice over rooftop overlooking madrid. Very tasty and filling, very good. OLD BUILDING but lifts are dependable.

The room i selected, clearly says it has in room coffee making facilities, and there was none. I do make a point choose rooms with coffee making facilities.

    The location and the breakfast

The room was tiny, the tiles on the floor were badly broken and the toilet did not flush in the morningWe only stayed one night but it was very uncomfortable and noisy

    Only the location.

I booked this property specifically for the balcony with a landmark view — which was the main reason I chose it. When I arrived, I found out the entire view was completely blocked due to construction. This was never mentioned in the listing, and honestly felt very misleading. The property has only one elevator, which meant long queues and waiting every time I needed to go up or down — super inconvenient. They even charge extra for baggage storage — something most places offer for free for their guests, especially when they already fall short on the basics. The only positive thing I can say is that the location is good. Everything else was disappointing. I wouldn’t stay here again and definitely wouldn’t recommend it until the construction is finished and they improve their service.

Is closer so central and easy to arrive

Is an old build. The elevator is an authentic headache. In addition you have to up to 7 floor to do the check in

Josefina was larger than the first hostel we stayed in which was Juliette. Both located in the same building, different floors. It turned out to also be quieter which was definitely better.

The lobby was ridiculously small, not all staff was friendly. The worse thing of all was the old elevator which is the only elevator for the front section of the building. It is slow, clanky and allows only 4 persons at a time. Too many guests with luggage using the one elevator -sometimes you have to wait long time for it -sometimes we wound up walking down seven flights. Not to mention checking in with luggage.

    in the city centre

very noisy from the street and also extremly noisy in the bulding self. Bed was 140cm, for 2pax very uncomfortable

    1RitaPosted on: 10-27-2025

    Bad

The building was with works so there was no natural light in the room as advertised and no one let us know.

    4MarkPosted on: 10-26-2025

    Location

Sterile room, lack of nice lighting in room, noisy neighbours, no free tea/coffee, thought breakfast was included via booking but it wasn’t so had to pay extra. Scaffolding and building work whilst there with no warning.

    2KaylenePosted on: 10-25-2025

    The location

The room was old and smelt damp and mouldy. The reception staff were friendly but the female supervisor was rude, aggressive and hostile when we challenged her over a payment issue we had. No customer service and she made us feel very unwelcome. By far the worst hotel experience we had in our 2 months travelling across Spain. Madrid was by far the most unwelcoming towards foreigners and the whole experience was very disappointing.
