    Pros +

    • Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great. Breakfast was better than expected for this level of hotel: not the cheapest pastries like some others, good juices and fruits, great tortilla and eggs options.
    • Convenient to where I wanted to sightsee
    • The location is very central and surrounded by restaurants and tapas bars, including big shopping retail chains.

    Cons -

    • Service could have been better. Receptionist was not fully aware of the tour bus service, luckily we took the tour bus anyway and found it to be quite good. Based on what receptionist told us, we were inclined to not take it.
    • Although the hotel is advertised as pet-friendly, pets are not permitted in the breakfast room — even if they are very small and kept inside a carrier. We were travelling with a 3kg, well-behaved dog who remained inside his pet carrier at all times. At no stage during the booking process or at check-in were we informed of any specific pet restrictions. No pet policy or consent form was presented to us upon arrival. The following morning, when we entered the breakfast area with our dog securely in his carrier, the breakfast staff approached us in an aggressive manner. Communication was difficult as they appeared unable to explain the issue in English. A manager was then called, who was able to communicate with us. We explained that we had never been informed of any such rule. The manager then produced a Pet Consent form and acknowledged that it should have been presented to us upon arrival — which it was not.Despite this being an internal failure on their part, we were told we must immediately sign the pet consent form or leave the hotel. Not wanting to disrupt our holiday, we felt pressured to sign. As a result, we chose not to have breakfast at the hotel for the remainder of our stay. The hotel refused any refund or compensation for the breakfasts we did not take, even though the lack of communication and procedural failure was entirely on their side. For a hotel that markets itself as pet-friendly, transparency and proper communication of pet policies should be standard practice.
    • Room very small no place for bedside table! No way to hang the coat or anything else.Only one window was properly clean. The common hall space not well thought, even a bit ugly.

Central location is excellent for sightseeing. A lot of restaurants nearby, also a supermarket. Rooms are great, shower was very good and the best slept good. And the breakfast has enough varierty to have a good start of your day.

The location is just amazing for anyone who wants to see Madrid - everywhere is within very reasonable walking distance. Breakfast is great and they change bits of it to keep it new. The view from the room was great. Most of all, the staff was helpful, especially Sergio and Alexandra, who were friendly and warm.

The front desk staff was amazing helping with all my questions and even giving me a free metro train card to help me to move easier and faster... amazing staff

The breakfast place is iconic and unique in all madrid, the quality of food selection is premium as well as the decoration and ambiance probably my best breakfast in Madrid ever.

The location is excellent, right next to Gran Vía and within walking distance of Madrid’s main attractions. The staff were consistently kind, professional, and welcoming. Breakfast was of good quality and served in a pleasant room with a lovely view over Gran Vía, which was a very positive start to the day.

Unfortunately, the room condition did not meet expectations. Several maintenance issues were evident: peeling wallpaper, loose electrical sockets, a detached shower head (which caused me a minor injury while showering), poor drainage in the shower area, and a mattress with worn, uncomfortable springs. The window faced a wall, resulting in almost no natural light, which was not clearly communicated — the photos on the website felt misleading compared to the room assigned. Additionally, although check-out was at 12:00, my key card stopped working at 11:10, preventing access to the room and causing unnecessary inconvenience.

The service was amazing and the staff were wonderful. Everyone who worked here was 10/10 awesome!!

It's just not as nice as it presents itself. There technically is room service but it's not very nice and I think it's just some outside company, plus it's SUPER expensive. The first room we were put in was so tiny we had no space for our suitcases so we had to ask to move to a nicer room. The breakfast buffet is mediocre. It has a lot of options but the quality is unfortunately super low. The eggs are inedible and I found mold on the cucumbers and the bread! The room is cool in that the old Union building is awesome but the furniture they put into the room is a big disappointment. Every room has the same little "armoire" area that doesn't hold very much at all. The "desk" is just a tiny table with the TV on it so there was basically no room for me to work without unplugging the big TV and putting it on the ground. And forget space to use the little water kettle. All in all it was cute but very cheap quality in everything and I thought we were getting a nicer place when I booked.

Breakfast was 7am-11am but it opened later than 7am and staff clean up and ate breakfast while it was 10:30…Beds were great but the bathroom smells like sewer everyday. Bathroom needs upgrade and facility over all needs works.

The location is very good. The breakfast is okay, but the lounge has stunning views.

Room and overall facilities are medium range quality. More like a 3 star.

The location is EXCELLENT! You can walk everywhere and you also have the Sevilla Metro Station right by the door. The breakfast is Awesome. Has to many things and definitely the view is a plus. Super recommend and definitely if I have the opportunity, we will stay in again.

Great location. Exceptional breakfast in a great setting to start the day. Our room was large. Staff were all very friendly. We’d happily stay here again. Lift was way to get luggage curbside to room. WiFi was fast & reliable. Shower itself was great - good sized, good pressure, bonus pull down. Coffee in the inviting lobby.

At peak hour in the morning the shower was never cold but struggled to get/stay hot. (Non peak - super hot). A full length mirror outside the bathroom would help 2 people get ready at the same time.

    Location, breakfast, views, bathroom

I changed room once. First room sucked, ground floor, boiling hot, no outside window. Second room much better but stank like if pipes were clogged.

Standard room is not too spacious but fine for 2. The beds are good. The bathroom is nice with a very nice shower. Our room was on the street side but very quiet. The breakfast is served in a beautiful room with a fabulous view. The breakfast buffet provides large variety of foods and drinks (different kinds of breads, juices, fruits, yoghurt, egg, etc etc). And all fresh. The location of is perfect. The 3 big musea at walking distance (Prado at around 10 min) and Plaza Mayor is at 5 min walk.Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Location and reception staff.

Doors Are really lousy and don’t give any noise control and reduction. There were housekeeping facilities near our room and it was very noisy in the morning and they were generally loud while talking to each other and laughing. Also, you can hear other guest at all times going through hallway and it sounds like they were in the room. For that money, I expected bit more. When it comes to breakfast, I would say other reviews are too good about it because it was subpar at best. Scrambled eggs were really inedible and when I said to staff that there is no mustard and ketchup they said OK and did not replace it. Tomorrow I saw same bottle of empty ketchup and empty mustard with crust on top.
