About
Scotland’s Oldest Inhabited Castle. Since the 13th century, Dalhousie Castle has been host to royalty, celebrated poets and wonderful guests. Today, we continue the tradition of Scotland’s warm hospitality. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed with open arms as we cater to your every need with impeccable service and attention to detail. Our highly experienced hoteliers are dedicated to ensuring your stay is nothing short of extraordinary. Dalhousie had a variety of owners in the late 20th century, and was even used as a private boarding school (Scotland’s answer to Hogwarts!) before being transformed into a luxurious hotel in 1972. One thing is certain, through the vast and somewhat tumultuous history of Dalhousie Castle, it has now become a symbol and beacon of Scottish hospitality, welcoming guests with open arms.

- The staff were very nice, the room was clean and comfortable with a great bed and pillows, the food Wes great too.
- I really loved the history of the building, the friendliness of the staff, and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Even if you just stay one night, you just feel like you are experiencing something special by being there.
- It's a Castle!
Cons -
- We Did NOT know we weren't staying in the actual castle and I was incredibly disappointed. We were put in a newly renovated out building that was 2 minute walk from the castle. I was also told we could have dinner in the dungeon but couldn't. :(
- The Dungeon restaurant is a unique eating experience, and the food is good, but I would say a tad overpriced for the portions. Also, if you are booked on the upper floors, pack light because you will be lugging those cases up several flights of stairs.
- Bar service was a bit slow.

It's a Castle!
We love Dalhousie, one of our favourite castles to stay in. From the decor to the surroundings absolutely unbelievable, we love it here and have stayed a few times now and never get bored will be back again.
Authentic castle feel, friendly staff. Great breakfast and lots of parking available.
Bar service was a bit slow.
Excellent location, clean & friendly staff.
Location
Greeting at reception. Lack of staff. Breakfast experience.
Staff were amazing, amenities beautiful, rooms comfortable- breakfast amazing!
Building is stunning and the food was amazing
Spa pool not available but wasn’t told (yes I should have read reviews but thought it would be fine)Staff unhelpful at times. Poor service in restaurant - had to ask for salt & pepper (think we were sharing grinders with rest of tables!) and had to ask for steak knife. Very slow to get drinks!Hotel is showing a lot of wear and tear, there are renovations due to be carried out so hopefully all this is resolved. We came home a day early!!!!
The castle is so well maintained, not just a nice look outside but inside the castle is even more beautiful, it’s located in a quiet place surrounded by green fields, the dining experience was superb, the breakfast, afternoon tea and dungeon dinner wow! I’m so glad that I have experienced all of these, very friendly staff I like everyone here.
Impressive castle stay with fantastic food and drinks!Quiet and measured atmosphere Dungeon restaurant exceptional.Great shout out for Ian the chef!
very beautiful location good food excellent
Payed for a themed room top dollar and got a dated room tiles on bathroom floor broken not what I expected
It's a castle and holds memories for me
The service from bar staff and breakfast along with the fact we were not advised nor is it advertised that the spa is closed and you're paying for a 4 star property not a 3 star property.
The scenery, History, uniqueness and the interior decoration
Staff were very scruffy, un Professional, the lady serving our breakfast wore the same stained clothes 2 days running,The Spa was out of use which was one of the main reasons we picked it,We paid for the spa facilities that were shut down because of the revamp happening in January,This was not stated on their website or informed before our arrival, (we would have changed the hotel if we knew). No one seemed to have any knowledge of The Falconery, Clay Pigeon shooting or Archery that is offered when you’re in their site?Staff completely lacking people skills , politeness, knowledge and not one person asked us if everything was ok or if we needed anything!!!Completely disappointed to hear honest
The castle amd irs surroundings
Food wasn't to my taste and there was no curtain around the 4 poster bed and stains on carpet, and tears all up the back of the curtains.
The location is excellent and very convenient. Breakfast was lovely with good variety and quality. The decoration of the communal areas – especially the restaurants, bar, and breakfast rooms – is beautiful and very well maintained, giving the hotel a stylish and welcoming atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the spa facilities such as the sauna were not available during our stay, which was disappointing. The rooms feel outdated and would benefit greatly from a full renovation – particularly the old-fashioned bathroom, tiles, and worn carpets. At breakfast, the staff initially seemed visibly annoyed when we asked for a table by the window to be reset, even though these tables are naturally the most popular and such a request should not feel like an inconvenience.
Beautiful location. I will be a regular visitor to Dalhousie Castle
My only complaint was that my stay only lasted 7 days, I could have stayed there for over a month - it was very relaxing and the rooms were so peaceful and cozy
Beautiful decor and ambience when you first enter the hotel.
Communication was not the best, starting with the front desk. We asked for a specific, simple request and felt a little dismissed from the receptionist. When it came time to act upon this request, it was not done correctly. We should have voiced our concern right away, but the person with whom we had made the request was not present and unavailable.
Beautiful location and it was a castle.
The toilet did not do its job very well. Had to flush 3 or 4 times to get the job done.
The view, the falconry and restaurant were amazing
