Pros +
- Location
- Vibrant part of city but not noisy. Superb end room.
- The people at reception were super nice, they could not give us the room we booked but they upgraded and included our breakfast. Very pleased with their hospitality and effort to make our stay great
Cons -
- Dirty bedside cupboard and lack of storage shelves or drawers.
- Vegan cookies…
- No glass to get the water from tap, only cup for hot drink. Sadly, bathroom was flooded when use the shower, need maintenance to ensure the drain works well. AC was too hot, already lowered the temperature down to 17 but still make then room hot. Didn't aware that need to turn off.

Room was big reception staff were good. The gentleman on the greeters booth at breakfast was a delight

Location is very great. Easy walk to castle. I got room with castle view as well. Bed very comfy, great for rest and you can't hear any noise from the street, I had a great sleep.

Staff was fantastic, location was perfect, amazing stay for my 1st time in Edbinburgh
Staff very friendly and informative, I had a query a few weeks ago when I had to get in touch with the hotel, and it was so refreshing to be able to actually speak to someone and not a AI generatorted person, please keep it up!
This hotel was just off the busy Grassmarket area. The 2x rooms (twins) were large , all very clean , beds were very comfortable, tea and coffee replenished each day as well as beds made. There was a fridge and safe , bathroom had enough towels and good to see refillable soap and shampoo dispensers rather than those small plastic bottles. A lovely Large shower which thankfully had an adjustable head. Used the bar one night, very comfortable with friendly staff . Water available in reception with comfortable sofas used whilst we waited for a taxi going home. Breakfast had a good choice of items hot and cold with extras on the menu to accommodate dietary requests. All staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.
The room was extremely warm the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working correctly in either room unfortunately none of us complained . We only had breakfast once but it was nothing special despite the choice. There was only one mirror in the bedroom area (on wardrobe door), so could not sit down to dry hair / makeup etc as no mirror on the desk/dressing table.
Really comfy beds, spotlessly clean and lovely staff.
Not being able to order tea/coffee to the table at breakfast. There was always a queue for the coffee machines and at one point they needed a refill, which meant your buffet went cold while waiting. A small issue and I understand that staff are very stretched in the mornings, but being able to order hot drinks to the table would have improved the breakfast experience considerably.
Location
Room wasn’t ready as we checked at 7.30, tv didn’t work, rom smelt funny, shower poor
Very convenient for city centre.
Drinks at the bar were very expensive. We were also told at reception there was no way between the two buildings (rooms and wedding venue) without going outside, which turned out not to be true.
Rooms Very Clean,, warm, spacious, and well appointed.
I fear not a hotel for more than a two or three night stay. The restaurant has a very limited and fixed menu. That menu has only two vegetarian items a Curry and a Jackfruit Burger both it seems are pre-prepared products the content of each item being fixed.. Thus when the question relating to allergies or aversions is asked insomuch as the items are pre-prepared if you have an intolerance to an ingredient in either or both of those vegetarian "0ptions" the offending ingredient cannot be omitted and therefor the menu item is or as in my case was no option whatsoever. It is only in the United Kingdom that a Four Star Hotel would refer to what is in effect a fast food outlet as a restaurant. .
The hotel was easy to find, adjacent to the Old Town. Parking is available at a nearby NCP carpark, but this could be inconvenient/difficult for guests with mobility issues and carrying luggage. The charge is reduced by 50% for hotel guests. We paid £54 for 3 days city centre parking which we thought good value. Check in was pleasant, smooth and professional. All staff were very attentive and helpful during our stay. The room was spotless with a fabulous view of the Castle and had all the usual facilities including bathrobes and slippers. Unlike other hotels, the heating and ventilation was easy to adjust. The hotel has a smart looking restaurant attached and it was nice to see it fairly busy most evenings. Service was excellent. Other restaurants and cafes were only a 5 minute walk away in the Old Town. Breakfast is buffet style but you can order eggs and other specials to be brought to the table. Food was plentiful and nicely presented. Coffee and other hot drinks were available from a machine but the quality and strength did let the breakfast down a little. The hotel is a rather grand building and from the outside, resembles the Flatiron in New York. All in all, a great hotel centrally located and did not disappoint. We would definitely visit again.
Breakfast drinks machine a bit disappointing. Could do with a toilet brush in the bathroom. Otherwise, there was nothing to dislike.
Location. Friendly staff. House keeping particularly attentive.
Comfortable beds, big tv with good choice of channels, good breakfast and on-site restaurant, friendly staff, close to Usher Hall and Princes Street.
Happy with all of it.
Room was very good, located very close to everything
Room could get a bit hot even when the heating was turned off
Everything! The room was excellent, large with a castle view, massive bed and a tv at the bottom of it. Full bathroom,
Absolutely nothing!
Comfort, good location, friendly staff
Lift was out of order and the remaining one was extremely slow.
Clean room with all facilities. Very close to Edinburgh City Centre and university.
Poor
Was very loud into the early hours of the morning. Music & noise from bars which there's not much hotel can do about but also very loud pipes could be heard from our room.
