Pros +
- The staff was extremely helpful! Great Don't rent a car and stay here. There is no parking on site but they help you with a discount at the shopping mall about 5 min walk from the hotlel. The hotel is locate near all the public transportion spots.
- It¿s a beautiful hotel and the location is perfect.
- Lovely decor and views of the city. Bedroom was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Reception staff were so lovely and helpful.
Cons -
- Our room smelled of sewage when we arrived. I informed the front desk and nothing was done. We left for a while and the smell dissipated but then was back. The following day. We ended up using wet towels to cover the shower and sink drains.
- The staff in the bar area and breakfast restaurant were polite but not always welcoming. They did their job but some seemed grumpy at times.
- While the location of the hotel is excellent, unfortunately, the overall condition of the property did not meet my expectations. The main issue was cleanliness, particularly in the entrance area and lobby. There was a noticeable unpleasant smell that resembled sewage and stale sweat. It seemed as though the odor was coming from the carpets and decorative artificial flowers, which also appeared dusty. The first impression upon entering the hotel was not pleasant. The room itself was acceptable and comfortable, but there was a practical inconvenience. I booked a room for two people with a city view; however, the wardrobe was extremely small it could barely fit two jackets. With two suitcases, there was no proper space to unpack clothes, which made the stay less comfortable, as most of our belongings had to remain inside the luggage. With better attention to cleanliness and more practical storage solutions in the rooms, the experience could be significantly improved.

The staff were so friendly. The room was nice and clean, and the bed was very comfy. For breakfast, there is a great selection of food. I also loved the decoration of the pictures as you went down the stairs.
I really appreciated the hotel’s location —it is absolutely excellent and very convenient for exploring Edinburgh. Being within walking distance of key attractions made my stay much easier and more enjoyable. The room itself was comfortable and generally pleasant. The bed was comfortable, and the overall atmosphere inside the room was fine for a short stay. I also appreciated having a city view, which added a nice touch to the experience.Overall, the biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely its prime location.

The room was beautiful and the checkin experience was fast!! The ultimate favourite thing about our stay was the food. It was exception!!!! We had dinner bed and breakfast and were blown away by the quality!!! The hotel's location is very central and a 4 minute walk from the St James centre, perfect!!
Only 2 things I can think of is a better choice of lagers and my pillow was bit hard. The bar was nice and cosy with an outstanding view of the castle, same with the restaurant.
Location great. Room small but adequate. Breakfast very good.
Hotel dining room prices quite expensive, particularly the drinks.

The breakfast was exceptional with huge range. All the staff were super friendly and helpful
We had problems getting the room temperature right. Noise from A/C units on adjacent buildings.
Reception good Cleanliness goodPosition good
Short staffed at breakfast with one male server decidedly moody! Also was told in the bar that a private function meant limited access to seating, but only a handfull of private guests were present with plenty of room by the bar for hotel guests
Location was excellent. Staff were so helpful and friendly . Breakfast was delicious.
