Royal Mile Balconies by the Castle

Location was perfect for walking around center of Edinburgh.

Communication from the host was excellent, welcomed us in advance, informed us when our room was ready and thanked us for our stay, room was cosy and clean, couldn't ask for more.

Nothing was wrong, honestly great room. Guess the wife could say the stairs but that comes with the old buildings and was charming when you met pigeons on the spiral stairs.

The location right in centre of Old Town

Sachets of shower gel and shampoo were hard to open. Would prefer a bottle on wall.

The property was cosy and toasty warm after being outside in the bitter Scottish temps. Spotlessly clean and very beautiful. Fantastic location.

Nothing. The blind was broken in our room (Melville) but it didn’t affect our stay at all.

Superb communication and we were able to check in early which I could not fault (although a phone number could've been useful) Bed & Bath linen could have been better (towels too small). Thoughtful elements in the room (eg corkscrew & wine glasses!)

Exact location not very salubrious but extremley convenient. Towels too small and could've been better quality.

Location waa great, in the middle of Royal mile. Got tea and cookies, what also was nice surprise. Bad was good.

Door downstairs at first was little bit hard to unlock by door key, but later was fine. Owners sent quite detailed instructions how to get inside and find property, so all good.

Perfect location. Lovely room, very historic but all modern inside. Stayed here in November so no brainer to chose it again this time. Location is second to none.

The room was warm ,clean and comfortable. The accommodation provided everything needed for a short stay. The location could not have been bettered with the castle, shops, restaurants and pubs all within a few yards. This is the 3rd time we have stayed there and hope to return again

The key pads needed to gain entry were difficult to use at night as the lighting was not very bright

The instructions are super easy and clear to follow. Yes there are stairs as we were on the third floor but we expected that and it added that extra charm to the room. Quiet during the day and night. We loved the box of biscuits on arrival, nice little touch!

The mini fridge had a bad smell so we didn’t use it. Wasn’t essential to our stay but would’ve been handy to have.

The location was perfect, lovely vibe and ambience in the room and the heating was great! The owners were very helpful with my late check out request which was amazing ☺️

This hotel is located on the Royal Mile.

1. located on Royal Mile, the room was stuffy and needed to keep the windows open, hence it was loud2. inability to communicate with the owners for issues (ie keys, no resources)3. they provide limited linens, and the pillows were terrible4. 72 steps for the fourth floor with no hand rail for a majority of the steps

Location

The stairs were dangerous and dirty with bird feathers and bird poo. In the unit a table lamp did not work. The bathroom was not much bigger than a closet. Shower was small.The sink was minuscule and no place for toiletries. No hooks for hanging bathrooms. The towels were like sandpaper. Earl morning construction noises outside. 10:00 checkout time is the earliest I have seen in travelling on 5 continents. The hangers for clothes were designed to make it impossible to hang trousers. Ceiling lights were a mixture of warm light and cool light bulbs which was strange. Everything seemed to be done in a de minimus fashion.

Love the location

The view would of been great if there wasn’t construction going on. Stairs should have the rope or hand rails.

The location was spot on, the room was cosy and had good facilities. Clear directions were provided to access the property. Considering how close we were to the Royal mile you wouldn't have known it was lovely and peaceful.

Not really a dislike, but bigger towels would be useful. You will need to be physically able to access the rooms, as the steps are steep; however, this is clearly stated in the provided information.

Location is great and the old building is charming.

The shower is no hard to figure out—poor instructions. We were on top floor and so had too many stairs. Needed to tell us how high up we would be and how many stairs to climb.

Only thing is the stairs to get to the top floor but not an issue at all for most people
