Royal Mile Suites by the Castle

The location is outstanding. Right in the midst of the old town and a short walk to Princes Street. Good sized room and liked the quirky decor. Contact with staff was good, queries answered promptly. Very good value for money.

Although overall clean there was a couple of aspects ie dirty glasses that were overlooked.

Excellent central location, comfy bed, lovely bathroom, nice decoration

Advertised that there were cooking facilities (toaster and oven) but these were not available at all, toiletries were poor quality and barely covered one shower, no hand soap provided in the bathroom

So much charm and atmosphere yet modern bath and comforts. Do be ready for the stone staircase, but then it is part of the character. Close to so much to see. Great breakfast stop across the passageway with a full Scottish breakfast.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! DIRTY! UNHELPFUL STAFF! Soiled unchanged sheets from a previous guest-long black hairs and brown stains. Contacted via email (no staff on location) and all we heard back from Hotel employee was he would look into it. NO apology or anything!

The location of the hotel was centrally located on the Royal Mile. It was very easy to find if you followed the directions sent by booking.com. The aesthetic of the rooms and overall hotel was like a trip back in time with the stone wall and fireplace. The bed was comfortable, The convertible couch bed was not as comfortable for older children to share. That's why I would only recommend couples or singles renting this space. However, the shower was great! Overall, we loved this hotel!

When the listing says "no lift/elevator" please keep that in mind! We are fairly fit individuals, and it was everything we could do to get our luggage up 4 flights of stairs to our room. The spiral staircase is difficult to maneuver, and there was no handrail until you reached the third floor.

The accommodation was excellent—very clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The room was well equipped and cozy, and the location was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making the stay even more enjoyable. I had a wonderful experience and would happily stay here again.

Staying in the heart of Edinburgh city was a dream come true! The historic building's charm, particularly the spiral staircase, felt like living in a castle. The views from the window were stunning, and the proximity to major attractions made exploration a breeze. However, parking can be a challenge, and the steep spiral staircase might not be ideal for those who struggle with stairs. Otherwise, it was a perfect base for discovering the city.

Finding parking was a challenge

The location . First class .

Lots of noise coming from a shared landing . But to be expected from a old building . Very uncomfortable pillows . But that mite just be personal preference .

This is place is one block from the castle, and around the corner from Victoria street, next to a famous restaurant bar yet it is very quiet at night. Very walkable.

We really enjoyed our stay, everything was to our liking.

Location was great. Atmosphere of the place was great. Staff was very accommodating with getting us into the unit early and having luggage storage for us.

Only 1 window and no fan, hard to get any sort of air circulation in the space. Fan in the bathroom didnt work. No toilet paper holder in the bathroom was inconvenient as well.

The location was great in the heart of the princess street

The property has no lift and its almost impossible to take your luggage up if you have heavy suitcase

Couldn’t ask for a better location for that price, great directions to find the flat, super helpful communications with agent.

Please read carefully about the spiral stone staircase. If you have large luggage and/or not that fit, this place is not for you. There is no elevator and no staff on hand to help. Not a problem for us but should read details carefully.

The location was unbeatable!Cookies were a nice touch. Neat check-in procedure.

The shower clogged creating a great big mess ?The price seemed fairly steep, but comparable to other accommodations nearby. Not easily accessible for folks w mobility issues. But it wasn’t an issue for us. Just a lot of lugging bags up stairs.

The location , the only thing

1) Metres was so hard.2) No drawers nor closet, we had to put our clothes beside the sink table.3) We asked for extra srvs. As we will pay for each srvs we asked every day, (House keeping and changing bed sheets plus having new towels for our 3 night) and we request this 3 weeks ago before arrival and we told them we will pay for it, unfortunately they haven’t done it , we sent email 2nd day but they don’t reply on their emails although they mentioned all requests and inquiries should be through email, we had to stay the 3 nights 4 days with sane towels.4) Room walls are very dirty.5) Found tissue squeezed inside the rock wall inside the room.6) They have lots of rules they want us to follow yet our rights to have clean room wasn’t there, they even charge you a month before you arrive full payment.7) Photos on line through booking are deceiving. 8) They have one hanger which it is on a shape of arrows and if you place your clothes on in it will ruin it.9) Bathroom sink has no shelf nor at least small area to place ur bathroom amenities. Very very pooor.

The kitchenette was clean and well prepared. The bed was comfortable and the location was fantastic.I also asked to have an earlier check in as I arrived early and the hosts kindly accepted.

The sofa bed had some stains

The location is amazing. Being close to Edinburg nearby shops, parks,historical centre made our stay very fabulous . I appreciated the access to various local attractions. Got early check in ,we appreciated it very much . The owners always checked us if we needed something else ; all instructions were clear .

The location of Royal Mile Suites can't be beat. The St James' Close is directly off of the Royal Mile and across just feet from St Giles' Cathedral. On the plus side, considering the tiny space they provided a small efficiency kitchenette with a kitchen sink with hot water (as the sink in the bathroom only ran cold), an electric cooktop, fridge, microwave, and electric kettle. They did also provide tea, coffee, sugar packets and milk packets as well as an abundance of shampoo and conditioner packets and sufficient towels.

The photos on the booking page are misleading as they showed nice, contemporary built in hanging closets, desks and large leather arm chairs. The bathroom also was quite outdated compared to the photos on the booking page.The apartment was much smaller than we expected and was pretty tight for two adults and two teenagers. The fold out sofa was very small and uncomfortable and terribly stained once the blanket was removed. When the sofa bed was opened out there was nowhere else to sit down in the suite, except on the beds. There was a metal hanging rode for hanging clothes but no hangers.

Wow!! What a really unique place. Felt like we were in a castle. The bed was very comfy and there was a small separate living room/kitchenette area. Super cosy and very clean. Very centrally located right in the heart of down town Edinburgh. But it was very quiet and peaceful. Full disclosure, we walked up 77 steps to our room. But I’ll be honest, I would absolutely stay there again. It was so fun.

We loved this property. The 77 steps to our room was a bit tough bringing our luggage up, but honestly, that would not deter me from staying again. It was really great.

Loved staying here with my husband and two oldest sons 15 and 18! They loved the staircase and location. It was located in the perfect spot right by historic sites, shops and food. Stepped right outside and you are thrown into an unimaginable historic city with a different view at every turn. Hopefully we will be back one day with our younger kids.

Great value and great location!

The apartment was understandably small, and could use some updating and maintenance, especially in the bathroom.
