Fabulous communal areas. Fabulous staff. Very clean. Decor great. Shower super.. Very quiet room overlooking garden. Elegant street at front onto park area.. Took my bag up to room. Quirky super art work. Reasonable walk from train station.

Single room had topper on mattress, this moved as you turned over & had to keep pushing back in place.. Couldn't turn radiator off to change temp. Curtain needs to block out all light.

Location was good, very clean and we had a lovely big room.

A proper door on the bathroom area would have made me give a 10. Also, the water for the lovely fancy bath was cold so I couldn’t take a bath.

Warm and friendly welcome, stunning Georgian building, imaginative decor with an eclectic art collection, friendly, thoughtful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble, everywhere immaculately clean , and delicious, freshly cooked and beautifully presented breakfast with plenty of choice.I especially liked the peace and quiet in our garden- facing room and the beautiful view from the window.

The staff was superb. They assigned me, I’m guessing, their most beautiful room, on the top floor, up flights of stairs. I arrived early, checked my luggage with the gorgeous Greek woman whose name escapes me. Perhaps “Marinella”? When I returned after check-in time, my luggage was in my room. I appreciated then, and appreciate now, not having to lug my heavy luggage to the room. What a gorgeous room! I actually inquired about buying a piece of the contemporary art hanging on the walls. The general manager was also a great help. Again, all staff was extraordinary. And kind.

    - All hotel staff were so welcoming, friendly & attentive. Nothing was too much trouble!- Staff serving breakfast were very knowledgeable about me needing gluten-free food so I felt safe- Large breakfast portion with quality produce (I didn't need to eat until teatime after that!)- Great location next to Calton Hill- Easy 10minute walk to shops/bars/restaurants- Gorgeous period property with fabulous art work displayed and lovely festive decorations for Christmas- lots of added touches in my room (toiletries, bottled water, hot chocolate sachet, gluten-free biscuits substitute)- Great to have a USB charger next to the bed- good sized towel! I am plus size and often towels don't fit around me. I really appreciated this.

That my trip was only for one night! :(

Fab hotel, staff were excellent very friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious, room was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Mince pies were the best touch as were the umbrellas very thoughtful.

    All was good

    - location perfect for visiting Edinburgh: by foot around 15 minutes to city center. - rooms big enough for a vacation and provided with everything you would need. - the staff is amazing, as well as the downstairs lounge. Can’t say anything about the terrace as it was quite cold outside. - the hotel overall is amazing, located just near the Calton Hill, in an old style house. - plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as pubs and bars, along with bus and tram stops. - umbrellas provided for each room.

    - I wouldn’t mark it as a negative aspect, but depending on the room you get assigned, you might have to climb lots of stairs, as the hotel does not have an elevator - since it is build in an old victorian style house (hopefully I got the type correct)

Superb, boutique hotel filled with an impressive art collection! Quirky decor! Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. Lovely welcome from girls on reception. Towser's Whiskey Bar on site offering tastings with the resident, knowledgable sommelier, Tony! Peter was an absolute delight and looked after us on the morning we left! The hotel is spotlessly clean, has a seperate bar & restaurant and serves superb breakfasts! The rooms are lovely and warm, good coffee, tea & hot chocolate available. Comfortable bed! Location is perfect and Calton Hill is literally on the doorstep & it is a resonable stroll to the centre of Edinburgh! Cannot wait to return! Thank you and well done to you all! You made our little break very special. Deborah & Sam ( Welshies) lol ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
