High Street Hostel - Over 18s Only, Backpackers Atmosphere

Location + vibe + kitchen + staff ❤️

I loved the location, people were very friendly and polite! I was shocked with how clean the hostel was, the bathroom was clean, and the kitchen is big.

There’s nothing that I don’t like.

An above average 'cheap and cheerful' hostel with excellent staff and a great position for catching a train out of Waverley Station. Having a locker with key in the dorm is very useful. Tea and coffee supplies include herbal teas. Well stocked bookcases.Twenty four hour staffing of reception.

The dim lighting in the dorm is obviously meant to foster an unobtrusive ambience for those sleeping but it is inevitable that the spotlight over the beds are going to be turned on as a result.

The breakfast was a bargain, cup of tea, toast, juice, bowl of cereal, banana and more. A pleasant atmosphere. The exuberance and conviviality of the staff from many different countries made me feel younger than my years. Everyone was pleasant helpful and always greeted me as if I was an old friend. This was my third or fourth time at the High Street Hostel and I hope I’ll return soon.

Nothing you can change, at my age frequent late night visits to the toilet was a long walk but I’m not complaining.

Location is perfect. Great atmosphere and lounge! Friendly and helpful staff.

Mattress is not comfortable and it’s very loud outside with the location, but they provide free earplugs.

The vibe and location of the hostel were very good (5min walk from waverley).The staff was very accomodating and friendly.Availability of the kitchen was very good too. It was very hygienic and clean for a common hostel.

The pricing listed on website was 30% higher than usual. The mixed dorm could have been more balanced in terms of gender so as to give more comfort to couples like us.

The rooms were quite smelly, no fresh air. Luckily O stayed only one night.

The lounge zone and a spacious kitchen. The room itself Free bag storage, which is great. Some staff members were incredibly nice (some not).That’s it

Weird and disgusting smell in the corridor (toilet smell). Uncomfortable showers. And only 2 showers for the whole floor with lots of people in it. Wait in a queue. Lots of unnecessary doors everywhere. No sink in the room (after touching dirty keys and unnecessary doors you can’t wash your hands, but ok fine) The hostel feels old and needs renovation. Everything feels dirty.The bed was nice though. I had a good sleep.

The room had an unpleasant smell, and we found rubbish under the bunk bed where my friend slept. The breakfast they offered should have had more variety, as there was only sweet food.

Excellent location off the Royal Mile. I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the facilities -- toilets and showering rooms. Cleanest hostel I have experienced in a long time.

A more efficient way of determining hostel access/stay duration than the pink paper slip. It is not very durable for a multi day stay so a laminated card or something similar would be more practical.

The hostel is located in the city centre of the Old Town, and all the attractions are within walking distance.The room and bed were clean and comfortable.The hostel is inside an old historic building, and although the facilities are a bit dated, everything works well.

There is no extractor hood installed above the cooking stoves in the kitchen.

Great location, easy access and check in, nice charging support along each bed.

Beds a bit small. Facilities a bit old. Only 2 toilets and showers each floor.
