    Pros +

    • It had a good shower.
    • Great room with a huge bed and sitting area. And the on-site restaurant was excellent!
    • Hotel employee at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant was excellent.

    Cons -

    • Disappointing overall. Room was very small, no ventilation dull grey colors, noise form doors banging, and the water event stopped working my last day there. Staff was nice, but would not stay there again. Not recommended.
    • No elevator for luggage
    • Just a minor detail of marks and stains on the bedspreads that are at the end of the beds, this is slightly off putting. However the bed linen was spotless

Enjoyed the upgrade to the house, huge room

Parking, when I booked it said comes with one parking place , but it was first come first served behind the pub

Great price for room and location. Although not in the city centre, there are regular buses (every 10 mins) that take you into the city centre which was really handy. This only took 15 mins in rush hour or you can walk into the centre by following the river. We did this one morning and it was a lovely walk. We booked the smallest room and it was still a really good size. Bar/ restaurant is handy. Staff all really nice.

We had a great stay - The large family room was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children, and we really appreciated the single bed setup.Fantastic location with a bus stop outside and a tram stop nearby. Friendly staff, good breakfast, and the hot toddy at the bar is a must-try. Would definitely recommend!

    The beds were quite hard

Loved the location and our junior suite was lovely

I understand we were there for the rugby but after the game had finished several members of staff kept coming to our table at the bar asking us to leave - bearing in mind we were hotel guests and had a reservation for dinner at 8:30 I thought it was very rude to ask us to leave the bar area - this happened several times and each time I explained that I was in fact a guest there and did not feel that I should be have to leave the bar area whilst waiting for my table? I did say I would leave that particular bar area if they provided me with another area to have a pre dinner drink - they had no solution to this! I felt very harassed and uncomfortable with the way the staff constantly tried to get us to vacate the premises. They then decided that drinks were to be served in plastic cups? I refused to drink out of a plastic cup when there were glasses hanging above the bar? I didn’t and still don’t understand why they would asking a paying guest to do this?

The location was very convenient as we were attending the Six Nations Rugby at Murrayfield Stadium. The hotel hosted a supporters tent on the property, which was fun. The breakfast service was good.

We were disappointed with the standard of the room we stayed in in relation to the photos that was advertised. The room looked very shabby, carpet was marked and dirty, coffee station (or lack there of) was terrible. Shower had no door and water went all over the bathroom floor. Hotel was very noisy, and every time someone opened the hotel front reception door, we heard the bang. Had to sleep with noise canceling earplugs all night. Hotel is expensive for what you get.

Lovely cosy room with everything i needed

The view was not so great as outside our room window was portaloo toilets but other than that i was happy with my stay

Beautiful, spacious room in a glorious period property. Staff attentive and very friendly, couldn’t fault.

    Nothing!

Very good sized room and large bed. Easy access to city centre and easy to get to hotel from North direction as didn't have to drive through city. Easy parking. Good breakfast. Friendly staff

Room was great but was on the front so there was traffic noise

We were there for the rugby, excellent in every way. Staff are amazing, food is good, room very comfortable

Breakfast was a bit overcooked. Very busy weekend so didn’t like to comply but personally I wouldn’t have served it. I paid £15 for two rashers of pretty crispy bacon and half an overcooked tomato!

Great location for the Rugby and 10 mins in a taxi to the city centre. The newly refurbished luxe double rooms are lovely. Staff very friendly.

Prices hiked for the rugby and six nations! But every hotel in Edinburgh does it.

The hotel was the final leg of our Scottish holiday with family from Australia. We had a very good meal in the restaurant and a wonderful breakfast the next morning. We particularly liked that the cooked breakfast was prepared to order.Everything in the rooms was perfect - just what we needed.

Arran aromatics toiletries and comfy bed. Great fish and chips.

Slightly expensive but probably the norm now.

    9SandraPosted on: 2-12-2026

I had the warmest welcome as soon as I arrived and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My room was very warm, clean and comfortable with everything I needed for my stay. The hotel is very well located for Murrayfield Stadium and although a little out of the city centre the public transport links are excellent.

It was wonderfully quiet in an excellent location and lovely staff.
