Pros +
- Great location
- Location is the best feature of the hotel. It is nearby to reasonable eating a Stabley Schmidt's and it is right on the lake rail line to the airport.
- Location was handy
Cons -
- It should be called Auchuitz Hotel because it is an OVEN. This review is only for days over 18°C. Window wide open to a extremely noisy street, fan on full blast. Never dropped below 23° in the room. Even at 3am and 10° outside.
- It seems like Edinboro his two names for every street. We had difficulty realizing that your place in Queen Street with the same street. Locals we met help us out.
- House keeping staff opened our door without knocking, didn't clean our room for 2 days in a row and when asked on 3rd day, only replaced towels, barely made bed and left door unlocked! Rude hk staff and reception staff did nothing the entire stay to help.

Hotel was great, staff was very nice and attentive, the room was big and pretty, beds were comfortable and the shower was good and clean. Great location.
A bit expensive
Absolutely nothing. Checked out after the first night and went to another hotel. Even though I prepaid for the whole 4 nights.
Room and bathroom was moldy. Blinds were broken, no ac, windows wouldn't open. The bed was uncomfortable andreaky Staff was unfriendly. When I asked about the bad conditions, I was told that I'm lucky I don't have mice or bugs. Very terrible experience!!
Great hotel, great staff, and great location! The tram ran right outside of the hotel and it was super easy to travel around Edinburgh. Great selection of Scotch whiskeys at the hotel bar. Super friendly staff! Will be back!
Location..not hotel standard of accommodation
Location..girl on reception day we were leaving lovely..other staff ignorant no way helpful..in need of major refurbishment
Location was outstanding. Five minute walk from train station. Five minute walks in all directions for anything you want. Great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Just beware there is no elevator and breakfast is nothing to really lean on.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The bathtub
The stairs
It was a fun Victorian style property. My room had a gorgeous view of the city. The staff were excellent and kind. The location is prefect. The hotel is a 7-10 minute walk to Waverley or a 3-5 minute walk to the Edinburgh Bus Station. It’s easy to walk over to Old Town and the Royal Mile. If you prefer to stay out of the busy tourist areas, there is great food and bars just a short walk away.
I knew this before booking, but there is no elevator. I was okay with that, but just wanted to flag it for anyone that may have mobility issues. The walls were unfortunately very thin on the top floor. I could hear my neighbors TV and their conversations through the wall.
We only spent one day in Edinburgh, but it was a huge help that we could leave our suitcases at the hotel before the check-in time and then leave them there for a few hours after checking out the next day.The bed and pillows were very comfortable. And the size of the TV...wow! And the body lotion ( great quality) provided in the bathroom was very useful after a whole day of wind and cold weather.Everyone at the reception was very friendly and helpful.
There could be a little more space between the tap and the toilet, but I say this because I'm carrying around quite a lot of unnecessary weight.
Everything was brilliant! The most important thing was the location. The hotel is right in the middle of the Edinburgh city centre; you can get to Princes Street in just a few steps, and it is a maximum 10-minute walk to the Old Town (Castle area). The staff were really helpful and friendly. A great shout-out to Thomas, Maria, and Kishore!Best regards,
Central location. Decent sized rooms. Great value for money with my Genius status
Nothing to dislike
The location is perfect for exploring the city centre. Room was spotless and we especially loved the big bath.
The bed wasn't the comfiest
Location was perfect and rooms were nicely done up. Good breakfast
No lift and had to go up 2 floors every time. Our room 105 was way too hot even without heating turned on, must have been close to a boiler.
very nice hotel. Staff we extremely friendly.
we liked everything about this hotel apart from the lack of a lift as the stairs are very steep. This is not a criticism more of a fact as the hotel was built many years ago probably as a house.
Was spacious and clean
The walls are a bit thin but it is an old building heard a lot of noise such as people having showers etc
Location is brilliant. 15 minutes walk to everywhere worth walking to.The room was clean and very spacious. The supply of tea and coffee generous. A wonderful place to come back to on wet cold Edinburgh days in February
Very handy and central
Small window in room which is below street level. But then again it was just somewhere to sleep for the night.
