    Pros +

    • Gluten free separate menu for evening meal fantastic, very good private parking.
    • Cleanliness, friendliness and location
    • Staff was friendly and the location was perfect. It's a short drive to Rosslyn Chapel and we rented a car but the bus stops right in front of the hotel. We left the vehicle in the lot and just took the bus to Edinburgh every day. Breakfast was superb.

    Cons -

    • Dressing table needed a mirror so you could sit down.
    • Keep it as it is.
    • No clear information about the check in from the bar , and once the bar is closed need to use the fire stairs….. so I was out for more than hour and half in raining weather waiting until the owner him shelf reached to open the hotel for me which was extremely nice from him

Friendly manager, nice restaurant and bar. Great room, very quiet.

the manager was great, he told us about the area, answered all our questions, and how to best get around town. The bus to Edinburgh picks up right outside the Inn which is very convenient. The free breakfast was a good start to the day.

    Keep it as it is.

I booked it while I was in city so it was last minute booking , the welcoming stuff

This is an old but extremely charming inn. Rooms are comfortable and the staff is friendly, Nice place to stay after a full day in Edinburgh and before leaving for a coastal drive.

Staff can be overworked. Morning coffee was cold. Missed the entrance to parking because another vehicle was riding my bumper - not the fault of the Inn and not sure if anything can be done to help avoid that.

Good location, great staff and good breakfast

Noisy room, close to the road and bad acoustic isolationThe worst, the shower: lack of enough water pressure and the temperature was very difficult to adjust.

    Complimentary breakfast was great.

Limited free parking. Only stairs access to the reception, awkward with big suitcases.

Convenient to the airport and various tourist sites(particularly Rosslyn Chapel).

bed was comfortable, room was clean

room very, very small, no bigger than a large cupboard. No room for two people to move around. Blind had to be kept closed as right outside was the car park & 'smoking shelter' which was occupied most of the time.

Great location Great restaurant Very friendly and helpful staff

Bathroom was a bit tight but was okay

    Clean bed

The room was very noisy throughout the whole night as it was by a busy road plus the person walking about at 11pm in the next room, weirdly, made my bed shake, and then snoring for the whole night did not help due to the thin walls. I could even hear his phone conversations. Something I did not want as I was trying to sleep. If you want a peaceful night's sleep, then look elsewhere

    Location, room space, awesome breakfast

The staff and food we’re excellent

Our room was noisy all night due to the bar below and main traffic route beside our window

    8miguelPosted on: 9-4-2025

The place is amazing. The village is great for walking and visiting. Public transportation at the door, direct to Edinburg. Great food, local bar, great vibe.

Simple, quiet inn within 25 minutes of Edinburgh Airport to sleep off an international flight. Checked in, slept for 15 hours, showered, ate breakfast and left. It was everything I needed.

    Unique historic property

Confusion about our bill- had an cost for food that we did not order. Cost telephone call to get it straightened out. The staff person was understanding though.

    Bar and building

The room could’ve been much cleaner. Specifically the bathroom and shower were pretty gross. Things are generally clean in terms of beds and linens, but the floor and bathroom had problems.

    Location

Staff unfriendly but not as unfriendly as the locals. They do not like visitors. Room was aweful, electrical sockets located where you had to crawl around on the floor to use them. Only 1 out of 2 worked. No supplied toiletries, shower was pathetic no pressure and impossible to regulate temp. Food quality was good.
