About
In Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, this Hotel Du Vin has uniquely styled bedrooms in a former city asylum. At the hotel’s heart is a French Bistro, serving produce from the Lothian region. A Plasma TV, Egyptian linen and luxury private bathroom is featured in each elegant room in this impressive building. Many rooms retain signature original features and roll top baths. Within the 4-star Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh is the chic Bistro Du Vin. Berwick lamb and pork and quality produce sourced from local suppliers is served in the relaxed French-style dining room. Guests can relax in the mezzanine bar, or sample a range of fine wines from around the globe in the Laroche tasting room. A walk-in humidor stocks an extensive range of luxury cigars. Edinburgh’s famous castle is 10 minutes’ walk away, while the shops of Princes Street are just a few minutes’ stroll further along.

We love the Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh. Great location, beautiful rooms, and fabulous restaurant.
Everything was great.
Breakfast was excellent the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the staff were quite wonderful
Hotel room - beautiful, one of the nicest decorated rooms I have stayed in
Dessert in restaurant - not nice, and I gave feedback and the waiter apologised. It was a small chocolate and avocado pot, I tried a couple of mouthfuls but it'd didn't improve.
The staff were amazing and really looked after me as a solo traveller. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Massive shout out to maya
The bed was uncomfortable as it felt like it was dipping and that I was lying at an angle. I told the staff and they tried to sort it for me. It was slightly better afterwards.
Everything. It was close enough to the city centre without the hustle and bustle. From the kerb side appeal to the rooms, staff and the calming ambience of the decor, it was well worth a stay
Amazing front of house staff, great breakfast. Staff were so attentive and welcoming. Hotel is in a great location. The suite was amazing, the bath was so deep and I loved the entire stay.
One of the loveliest and most magical hotels my girlfriend and I have visited. The room was quiet and comfortable and luxurious. Everything from the courtyard to the bar and restaurant just screamed welcome and ‘this place is a bit special’
Could have done with a decent coffee maker in the room
Eggs Benedict for breakfast was great. Our evening meal of Chateau Briand plus a bottle of red wine for two people was excelient.
The full British breakfast needed to be hotter and the black pudding needed a bit longer in the frying pan.
We got stuck in Edinburgh during the snow in January and managed to book the hotel du vin. Dog friendly as we had our well behaved dog with us. Staff couldn’t have been better. Roxy got a mat. Bed. And a bag with treats. Poo bags and a ball in it. Places to walk her were a stones throw away. Staff set us up a table in a little private dining area so she could be with us for breakfast. Lovely room. Had a fantastic time.
All was good
Very attractive building tucked away in an excellent location.
Bit cold.
Clean, intimate, friendly
Hotel du vin - the Errazuriz suite was perfect, enormous bed, his and hers showers plus a roll top bath and Bluetooth sound system. Only suggestion would be having soaps near the bath as the shower ones were fixed to the wall. The breakfasts are to die for too

Warm friendly reception staff who always said hello when I walked past. Beautiful comfy room. Overall vibe of the hotel was lovely, ideal location very close to the activities I wanted to do. I liked the extra security of the gate being closed at night time.

Lovely hotel - luxury feel, great location.
Sadly had to update my review as a few things have came to light. Went to celebrate a 70th Birthday. Had 3 separate bookings as multiple people staying. One room booking was paid in advance and two of the bookings were paid on arrival (one of which was a gift for birthday person) one considerable payment made on arrival for both bookings. When the birthday person was checking out he was presented a bill for extras plus the original booking cost (which had previously been paid). I then had to send a screenshot of the bank statement and it just ruined the overall experience - having to debate over the phone with reception staff to prove payment had be been made all while the birthday person was standing there. At one point I was told one booking had been paid and other was due - despite one payment being taking for the total of the two bookings, then it moved to a deposit had been paid. Overall of the highly embarrassing given the money spent over the whole weekend was well over £1000, and the shine of what was meant to be a lovely gift was ruined. It has also came to light that staff were accepting cash tips when 12% discretionary service charge is put on all drinks bills. No one made us aware of this at the point of purchase. On further investigation we found this in the fine print. If it is discretionary surely at point of payment the 12% would be pointed out to the customer (why have it lurking in tiny small print). This seems more compulsory and misleading.
Superb location .. friendly staff and a beautiful riom
I liked the room, cleanness and service.
Not having a car park. Although there us one nearby.
We loved the way in which the historic property was renovated with respect to the original bones. The artwork and decorative appointments were very appealing. I took full advantage of the beautiful tub and appreciated the high quality bath products provided. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
