Bed was a bit soft for me.

It is a bit out of the centre but great for Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat.
I love staying at this hotel! The location is phenomenal, right next to Holyrood Park, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Also convenient to several bus lines.
Since this hotel is at a university, there can sometimes be loud people walking by, but it wasn't too bad.
Staff really accommodating, supportive, happy to help. Came to sit an exam and upgraded my room on the day, staff remembered me the next day and were incredibly kind
Honestly, three minor points. One was that the large bed had a midline rift through making the centre uncomfortable but that was not awful. The second is I couldn't turn the lights off from the bed. Third is youtube didn't work on the tv, so I resorted to using it on my phone for studying for the exam. Basically, I was spoiled.
2 dog beds, welcome back with treats, bowls and towel was great for our two terriers. The hotel was incredibly dog friendly, they were welcome everywhere and it really made a difference. The bar and restaurant team were friendly and engaging. Really impressed with our stay.
It was very clean! In a beautiful place! The staff were really nice. They made us feel welcome. The coffee machine in our room wasn’t working so they offered us coffee in the breakfast room. Excellent attitude 10/10
Peaceful location, delicious breakfast, friendly staff
Location
Bed and it was too hot like I opened windows and the heating was to the max all night so no control over how warm or cold the room is
Friendly staff
Location too far away from main attractions and hotel in on a university campus
Staff were great and the room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice.
Receptionist was extremely friendly & helpful, as was all staff in general. Room was comfortable and clean, wonderful creams and soaps to be used, beautiful setting for the hotel
Just a few suggestions to make things even better: Water bottles in the room would be useful, light in the cupboard so we can see the coffee/tea items and a small tube of toothpaste in the bathroom. A few more options on the menu in the restaurant. Great otherwise!
Clean, modern but comfy
Couldn’t have breakfast
Comfortable room
Noisy kids running the hall until 2:30 a.m. I persuaded a staff member to come to our floor and deal with it. He spent 2 minutes looking around and then left. As soon as he did, the kids were at it again. At check out i talked with another staff member. She said that the night manageer left info about situation and said he spoke to the party. That made me angry. Never happened.
The Scholar went above and beyond. We had two rooms next to each other. The beds were comfortable. The showers were luxurious. The location was perfect. Just enough out to town to park our rather large van for free with ease and close enough to be affordable and fast to get an Uber to the Grass Market part of the Royal Mile. Some great restaurants and pubs in walking distance as well. Would definitely stay here again.
Extra large rooms and bed so comfortable .Staff are amazing from front desk to restaurant. I defy you to find better customer service! It’s amazing!
Clean beautiful setting easy to UBER into town
Fantastic cleanliness and comfort, and really helpful friendly staff. Amazing value, we felt.
Breakfast was rather expensive - although probably better value if one had the full offering - perhaps my fault for ordering it when we weren’t very hungry and really just wanted a bite. (Might this be an option for future pricings….?)
The hotel‘s reception area, lounge and restaurant have been refurbished to a high standard. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Rooms and bathrooms are large and beds very comfortable. It’s cosy, they play great music and there is a wonderful ambience. I will return.
Just the carpets upstairs and in the bedrooms need changing.
I liked the room, it was quite spacious. The location is in a quite area, it's nice to be away from tourist crowds. The staff was super friendly
Breakfasts are still something they must work on. A simple experiment to have breakfast for a focus group will reveal certain asperity of the menu and drinks
