Cons -
- Instead of two beds as requested. We had one bed and a pull out couch of which the sheets hadn't been changed in a while. The couch was si uncomfortable, slept on the floor. We brought this to the managers attention but he said he was unable to accommodate us with a new room. Additionally, the steps up to the room were old, steep and had no hand rails. The nauseating smell in the room was pervasive and lingered. Finally, the maid service was horrible. We had to ask for clean towels everyday and the maid never bothered to clean or even leave toilet paper. This was bar none, the worst room I have ever stayed I.
- Booking.com listed "shower" as an amenity but our room only had a bath and then a shower head...safe to say, it was extremely difficult to shower. The room was large but felt like a medieval cottage. The layout was bizarre - the room containing the toilet had an old wooden door where you had to be under 5 ft 4 to enter. The 2nd twin bed was up a narrow staircase with an extremely low ceiling so you inevitably hit your head climbing up. The hotel also stored miscellaneous old furniture there, which was weird. The breakfast at the hotel was also very minimal.
- Only wish I could have stayed longer!

Only wish I could have stayed longer!
It was a great location and an historically exciting hotel. My room was quite large, consisting of an entry with a toilet, a sitting area, a room with a bed and a more extensive bathroom. It was also up a stairs and somewhat awkward to enter.
I did NOT like the shower in the tub. I suppose there is no alternative, but the tub had high sides and required a large step (especially for an older lady) to enter it. I was very concerned about the risk of slipping.
The breakfast was very nice and the staff was very pleasant.
The bathrooms were not as clean as expected and we needed to ask for washcloths (yes, they had them) But the one day the changed the towels we were once again without them.
Location only
Small room, very tiny bathtub, you can hear all steps, opening closing doors. Water was clogged in the sink. Totally overpriced
It was quaint and had lots of character.
There was some visible age in the rooms, paint, furniture, some things needed a bit of updating on a way the maintains the historic charm.
Excellent location I don’t know if all rooms are the same but we got a huge room, perhaps the biggest we ever got in Paris with it’s notoriously small hotel roomsGreat breakfast!
Loved the history charm and the boutique feel of it. Loved the large room and comfortable bed!
The shower and tub! I think it was one of the bathrooms not yet updated.
Beautiful old hotel and very French!! The rooms are decorated very lovely individual antique furniture and very comfortable beds. Bathrooms are beautiful. It’s a wonderful hotel a little in the pricey side but I think it’s probably worth it. It’s right up there with a couple other hotels in Paris that I like thank you so much for a great day .
Charming inner garden. Tiny bar and aa nice sitting area
Excellent breakfast, excellent and kind staff services, excellent location, well decorated lobby and breakfast room
Small room, old furniture, tight bathroom
Everyone very helpful and nice. Fabulous location. Rooms are clean and well looked after.
Breakfast was perfect - very nice selection. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful!!
The breakfast was a great addition, and the location could not have been better. The staff was super friendly and helpful with everything we needed. The rooms were a great size, and the courtyard was lovely.
What is not to like. This is the kind of hotel that people who want to fully experience Paris in the best way should seek out. The hotel is located in the heart of Saint Germain, and is just a short walk from many of the landmarks in the 6th arrondissement. It has a warm inviting lobby with an atrium that is filled with lush greenery. The staff is polite and very accommodating. Our room was quite large by Paris standards. The morning breakfast area is tasteful in an old world way, and the buffet is quite nice. You can order eggs to go to go with what is available on the buffet and several machines that make cappuccino or any other hot drink you desire.Several times I took advantage of the lounge are in the afternoon for drinks and downtime. The hotel is located in a historic building, where Benjamin Franklin met with the British to negotiate the treaty of Paris, and Hemingway and Charlie Lindbergh both stayed here while in Paris. We have stayed at several hotels in the vicinity of l'Angleterre over the years, and this is among the nicest.
Nothing comes to mind.
The location was great. The court ride yard right outside of our room was wonderful, unless someone was smoking. It was small, but very comfortable.
Our room was very dated and not what I was expecting. In the bathroom, you have to get over a very large side of a bathtub to get into the shower. If you were older than us or less flexible, it would be a challenge.
Fantastic location in the 6th arrondissement. We walked everywhere! So many lovely restaurants within a short stroll. Beautiful small property with amazing breakfast included. Delicious coffee from the machines, fresh varieties of croissants with cheeses, jams, meats, yogurts, fruit, boiled eggs or request made to order scrambled, poached etc. Very clean property and rooms with lovely bedding and plush towels. Lovely toiletries too. Great staff who responded quickly to our questions before arriving and during our stay.
We ended up with a quirky room (#10). Our friends didn’t so every room different. A small room at the entrance with only a toilet, no sink. Next room was a lovely sitting room with love seat and desk, next room was a good sized bedroom with lots of storage and finally the large bathroom with 2 sinks, bath/shower and a bidet. Need to walk from the front to the back to wash our hands. Would make more sense to switch the toilet and the bidet?
The location was excellent. Lots of cafes and bistros. Bustling neighborhood. Easy walk to Notre Dame (20 minutes) and Eiffel Tower (45 minutes), Jardin du Luxembourg (10 minutes). Ubers came right to the door. The desk staff were very helpful. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The outdoor seating area was lovely. It felt like you were sitting in a park.
Tiny elevator but you can't change that.
Large rooms and great location
It would be better if it had AC
Clean, centrally located, great breakfast, very quiet, and helpful staff. Will definitely be staying here next time!
