Pros +
- The location is great.
- Centrally located near public transportation. Staff was professional and very helpful. Breakfast was good.
- Was ok for the price. In a good neighbourhood, not too in the centre , but not too far from it.
Cons -
- The day we went was on a rush as we have limited time to explore Paris. I agreed to be placed on a room just beside the front door which makes very noisy sound, at night the street is noisy. Though the weather is getting cold, the room is hot and they can’t help us with that except for opening the window which all passersby can see us as we are on the ground floor. On first day, the room has no light bulbs, the shower sink/drainage system is not working, we asked for someone to fix it up , it worked a little bit but still it’s overflowing. Lastly, there were big black ants in the room.
- In the morning, during the breakfast, the staff had really bad behavior, screaming in front of everyone “ IT S NOT FOR TAKE AWAY YOU CAN EAT IT LATER OUTSIDE THE BUILDING”. I just picked half baguette to eat for breakfast. I felt ashamed, because it looked like I was stealing food, in front of everybody. The day before the same guy forced me to fisnish my orange juice because he had to clean the table and the glasses… That’s not a good behaviour. Receptionist was super cool and gentle.
- Our room, while clean and updated, was warm at night - and being October the air conditioning was not on. We had to keep the windows open and the noise from the street - mostly people talking very loud and music playing - made it very hard to sleep. Unless I could get a room facing to the back, I won’t stay here again.

The 13th Arrondissment area where the hotel is situated is not overrun with tourists yet there are plenty of cafes/bars/ restaurants/street market to choose from as well as an art deco swimming pool. Les Amis de la Commune de Paris is worth visiting. There are museums two metro stations away.Out bedroom on the 6th floor was small but the view from the balcony was spectacular.
I love this hotel and the neighborhood it is in. The staff are very nice and very helpful. I stayed here 2 years ago and was charmed.

The access to restaurants. Pizzeria and metro were very easy.
The only item was the elevator. Which had limited capacity. Got stuck when used it on arrival.
"La Butte aux Cailles" is a charming and vivid area, featuring numerous excellent bars and restaurants. My room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. I stayed two nights here for a work event and really appreciated being there. If I need to come back to this area of Paris, I will for sure try to book a room at Hotel Saint Charles again
The price is high. But it's a general problem in Paris
I wanted a place that's a little away from the center. It meant that everything was cheaper than where I've stayed before, but the quality was fantastic. A cafe at the bottom of the hill had amazing food at a reasonable price. And I'm a very picky New Yorker. There is a hair salon halfway down the hill where I got one of the best haircuts I've ever had in my life, – for €13. I chose not to have breakfast in the hotel, because I discovered a bakery with extraordinary croissants. I love walking in Paris. And it's a very nice one-hour walk to Notre Dame, which was the perfect activity for an afternoon. Very pleasant stay!
This is something that is particular to me. The website says that there is a coffee maker in every room. That's not true. There is an electric kettle and some packets of instant coffee. What I managed to do was pop down to the bottom of the hill to Paris Affaires and buy a one cup french press for about €6 - and then pick up some coffee at a grocery store. Saved money and I had excellent coffee.
The location was perfect for us. The rooms were affordable and comfortable thought quite small. We chose this hotel because we already knew about it from past visits to Paris, and it was just what we wanted. Breakfast was nice and had lots of choice. We liked the outside seating area as the weather was warm and lovely. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Not a big deal, but I thought that the hallways were very dark and kind of dirty feeling. Didn't reflect the cleanliness of the rooms.
The Double rooms were perfect for two people. We really liked location in that it was close to the Metro, dining options, markets, etc. but still off the main road. The rooms were very clean. Great staff. Breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the secluded courtyard.
The hallway carpets showed signs of wear and appeared to need a cleaning. Even though we had used our converters in other EU locations, we had to purchase a new one as the room plugs were a different type.
Excellent service during our stay. Mother-daughter trip for 5 night stay. Great Location, friendly!
The hotel is located exactly in the Butte aux Cailles, surrounded by bars and little restaurants. 6 minutes walking from the metro line 6 (Corvisart) and < 10 minutes walking from Place de Italie (multiple metro lines). It was perfect for visiting the city.
Room was a bit small but we didn't mind. It was quite clean (some dust but acceptable).
Comfortable, quiet, spacious, good location
Nice location, clean, comfortable bed, polite staff. Great experience altogether.
1,59 Mbps internet speed is a joke in 2025. I also have to mention the ancient TV with the broken remote control
Clean, air conditioned, good, friendly service. Breakfast was also quite good.
Bathroom layout was a big strange. -- no privacy for shower, but not a huge deal.
Worth to stay, affordable, clean, quiet and dark room, nice neighbourhood, nice staff and breakfast
Wifi wasn’t good and net was weak
Butte-aux-Cailles is a very lively neighborhood. The hotel is in the center of it and very clean. The common areas of the hotel are large and nice and also there is a small inside garden. The breakfast room is large and very clean, and finished items are refilled immediately. The price of the breakfast is also fair. You also have the chance to get your breakfast in the garden.
Rooms are equipped with amenities but rather small. The price is a bit higher than similar hotels.
Everything was perfect. The district was very nice and fun. The room was clean and new. The sheets were soft. The staff was very helpful
Maybe cleaning during stay could be better
I loved the ambience and coziness of the room. We booked two rooms and the beds were highly comfortable! The location was also great because of its proximity to the M6 and M7 lines. The staff were friendly and kind enough to help us with our needs, even with our limited french
One of the bathrooms didn’t have any glass separating the shower from the toilet or sink, and had a curtain that went across. For the amount of money, this should not have been the case. The other room we booked did have a proper shower, despite being a smaller bathroom.Side note: between both rooms, only one had a fridge, and neither one had a microwave. There was a microwave in the lobby, which the staff kindly let us use.
Having AC in the room was a nice plus, since Paris is very hot in July. The bed, pillows, and towels were comfortable and clean. However, the stain marks on the bed sheet (even though they didn’t come out in the wash) and the tear were not a pleasant sight. Overall, for a 3-night stay, my 13-year-old daughter and I felt comfortable.
We don’t speak French, but we still politely greeted the hotel staff with “Bonjour” when we arrived, and then continued in English. The receptionist, who was a bit older, welcomed us in a very cold manner and even answered a phone call instead of helping us, making us wait with our suitcases for about 5 minutes. In my opinion, this was rude. After all, we are paying guests at the hotel. As for the inconveniences in the room — which might have been bad luck specific to our room — the TV remote had no batteries, the fridge barely managed to cool itself, and the windows did not close properly. Unfortunately, these were the downsides of our room and the hotel.
