    Pros +

    • Feels like a very lively and safe area, bathrooms and rooms are very clean.
    • The room was nice overall, and the bar below was really good for socialising.
    • The breakfast

    Cons -

    • The lockers are under the beds, and are very noisy to open and not practical at all. Additionally on the last couple of days someone was on the bed under me, and due to the weight the locker got stuck, I could not open or close it and they were not very understanding so it was a bit difficult
    • No towel was provided, and the men's bathroom was really far from room 11, all the way across the corridor.
    • Lots of noise from people, doors and beds. Over crowded. The staff were a little bit rude.

room was ok bed was ok but people and distance from Metro specially line 5

I am writing to share feedback about my recent stay at St. Stephen Hostel, Canal Paris, on the evening of 10th February 2026, around 20:30 hrs. While I had hoped for a pleasant experience, I was genuinely disappointed by the behavior of the staff—particularly the lady at the reception. Her demeanor was unfriendly and lacked basic politeness. She came across as having a very high ego and a dismissive attitude, which made the check-in experience uncomfortable.I believe that hospitality begins with a warm welcome, and unfortunately, that was missing during my visit. I hope the management looks into this matter and ensures that guests are treated with courtesy and respect in the future.Thank you for your attention.

Location and price, cheap and near a station.

The curtain of my bed can't cover the entire bed bunk area.

    Everything

Someone stole my bad in the reception but it was my fault to leave it unattended because some guy there was saying he was racist so everyone was mad at him and going outside because of that left my bag in the reception and when back it was gone, but they managed to check video recording and saw the person who stole it, called police but they didnt find the person yet just be carefull your belongings in the reception otherwise all good here

    very comfy beds

couldn´t open the locker all the way and kept closing so there was more noise than would've liked

Location was actually nice. There is reception cafe with bar along with river view makes the place more beautiful.

Good location, comfortable bed and nice staff

There was a mixup and a man was given access to a woman only room for a few moments

I liked the Bar and the fact that everything was daily cleaned. Also Staff was really helpful and welcoming, Eli helped me with all the questions I had and instructed me about the facilities and rules.

In my first night, the room I went to had someone smelling really bad. It was underneath my bed, but fortunately I was able to change rooms.

    #1 hostel in Paris. Best.

Not able to book a room spontaneously in the night like in other hotels and hostels sometimes is possible. When you're stranded in the cold night, tired and there's free beds, this should be an option. .

Clean room, spacious hostel? Super long corridors, spacious rooms

No kitchen, a big issue..., expected to have one.

    5TiagoPosted on: 2-2-2026

The location and distancie to where we were going to be.

The bed is not even a mattress, is just a piece of foam(that is not really hygienic) and you feel the bed structure when you lay down. The bed clothes were all dirty too inside the covers.

The location was perfect and great places to visit nearby or even take the metro and head to places. Amazing restaurants nearby and also bars/clubs.

    Canal

On the minus first floor, a man was trying to forcefully kiss another.

    10FreyjaPosted on: 1-27-2026

The beds have privacy curtains which I really loved. The common room is pretty basic BUT the hostel is also a public bar/restaurant and people party it up there. So, I not only met people who stayed at the hostel but also locals who came to the bar for the fun activities. Super fun community! And amazingly you can't hear the music and excitement of the bar when you're in your rooms. I absolutely loved my time here and will be back as soon as I can!

The room door squeaked kind of loudly so it was very disrupting going in and out at night (room 104 if y'all wanna oil the hinges!). Also there were no hand towels or even air dryers in the bathroom... people were using toilet paper haha).

    Poor

There is no chill room, no kitchen, no nothing, very packed, quite old and not well maintained. They charge you to leave the luggage for a couple of hours after check out.

    Location and Private room.

    The mattress was very thin.

    10VarunPosted on: 1-20-2026

All in all a remarkable space for the price one pays. Very economical. Staff is helpful.

The arrangement of the dorm beds in the space can be given a bit more thought. Some spots are more convenient than others and this could be changed for the better. The bathrooms could be cleaned more frequently.

    4KathleenPosted on: 1-19-2026

The on-site restaurant was good instead of having to go out. The bathrooms are cleaned everyday.

The sound of people coming all throughout the night is disrupting to sleep. The beds weren’t comfortable. There’s no AC, so it’s hot and unbearable. The wire cages and metal bed frame are hideous and the worst thing I’ve ever seen. The showers flood.
