About
The 3-star Hotel de la Bretonnerie is in the heart of the charming Marais district, near the picturesque Place des Vosges. Rooms are individually decorated and include free Wi-Fi access. The hotel is housed in a former private house dating back to the 17th century. The classic Parisian freestone façade leads to elegant and comfortable living spaces that have retained their original charm and character. The rooms are decorated with stylish furniture; some have exposed beams; others have a view of the lively Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie; and some feature a small living room area. The hotel boasts a central location and offers a truly Parisian setting with its cafes, flowering terraces and courtyards, as well as easy access to the entire city via the nearby public transportation network.

Pros +
- Friendly and helpful staff - very charming, period style room - bright & sunny - free wifi
- The location was excellent. The room was well appointed and comfortable. I appreciated the coffee in the room.
- I can just probably mention the friendliness of the front desk staff, which is what you typically get in most hotels, if I can name this one a hotel!!!
Cons -
- None ....
- The only negative was that the WiFi signal was very weak and sometimes nonexistent.
- We stayed in this hotel for two nights during new year holidays. I can’t believe the money that we paid for this poorly maintained facility. Breakfast was served at lower level in a cave like room. The room was small and the food choices were very limited. There was just a canned like mixture of non fresh fruit, and no omlets were provided. The lady who was running the breakfast service seemed nonpatient and a bit rude. We had two rooms, both very small. In fact beds did barely fit two normal size adults. Night stands lamps were super old and broken. Shower was very small and shower head height was so short that we had to hold the hose during shower to be able to use it. There were signs of mold on the shower wall. We will never stay there again. Don’t get fooled with advertisement about it’s location as well. You can find much better choices at the same price.

Location and the staff was very nice
The shower is really not good and not comfortable and the fabrics covering all the walls ita not possibly to clean them good.
Location excellent and the hotel rooms accommodate 3 adults very comfortably. The hotel has a nice interior.
Breakfast could provide more food choices, such as hot dishes (sausages, bake beans etc).
Location and area was vibrant, breakfast was excellent
Size of room
Beautiful cozy comfy hotel located in a great area close to many landmarks. Staff was amazing!
I came with my friend for 3 nights and we absolutely loved the location and the staff.
Location was great. We walked everywhere and made the most of our time. The breakfast was average- we did enjoy the cat that roamed the hall. The room was OK- the bathroom was recently redone, but the rest of the room was in need of an upgrade.
The staff was not super warm (maybe a cultural thing) but we did not feel particularly welcome. Property was in need to a maintenance touch up
The only good thing was the location
Where do we start… they put us in a floor where they had major construction going on. Hammers all day. You couldn’t take a nap. The air smells of debris from the construction. We coughed all night. This was not disclosed on booking or bilaterally. Now to the worst part, they put dirty towels in our room. Literally with dirt spots. Mind you this was a 300 euros per night. They told us they will refund us 20% but we are still waiting and we think that’s not even fair.
Have stayed many times and love the location.
Our room was too noisy Heard the bars at night and recycling and garbage trucks early in the morning. Staff not as warm as during previous stays and feel like the cost has gotten too high .
Good location, supermarkets + restaurants close, Notre Dame close, not the busiest street of that district, beautiful interior, professional charming reception, suitably sized rooms, good breakfast.
The hotel needs to learn about privacy of the rooms. One male receptionist wanted to check the bathroom of the room of my female colleague at 9 pm when she was taking a shower. He went into the room without asking for permission to enter and scared her. We did not receive a proper apology for this unprofessional behavior.
The location was exceptional. We were close to everything desirable: cafes, metro, vibrant neighborhood, Notre Dame, monuments, and museums. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The building was ancient, but well-maintained and the rooms well-appointed. It had a good-sized lift. The breakfast offered multiple options and the food was fresh and delicious. There was already made coffee, but you could also make espresso. The breakfast room was incredible! It was so cool to be in that beautiful wine cellar and they had lovely music playing.I thought my room was quiet and there was a full shower/bathtub. When I messaged the hotel, they replied promptly and their response was helpful.
I thought the mattress could be more comfortable.
This hotel is beautiful! The staff were incredibly accommodating with recommendations, storing luggage, late check out and more! My hotel room was beautifully appointed and the location can’t be beat! Will definitely recommend to anyone coming to Paris and wanting to be in the Le Marais
Nothing!
First of all, I like location, than it’s a very friendly personal, breakfast was very good ?
Very small room!
The staff was very nice and helpful especially with our request for two beds rather than one. The breakfast downstairs was decent value for money and it was in a great location. It's in the Marais and within walking distance to a ton of bars, restaurants, stores and sights. It's pretty close to the Louvre and easy to navigate around once you get your bearings. The rooms did provide a fan which helped a great deal in the stuffy room.
The rooms were, as anticipated, quite small, especially for two people with luggage and who need to use the standing floor fan in order to function. It was a hot long weekend and while we knew there wouldn't be A/C, it was still a lot warmer than we had expected. The bathroom was quite large but there is absolutely no where to put anything, not a shelf, table or anything. Toiletry bags had nowhere to go other than the floor which is not ideal. The sinks aren't big enough to even leave a toothbrush out which is a nuisance when you're already fed up of living out of a suitcase that you can't leave open due to the room not being big enough. Being from the USA, we weren't aware until we got to this hotel and Googled it that European hotels generally don't provide washcloths as they generally think it's weird to reuse something that someone else used on their face. (Not sure why that doesn't apply to towels either than, honestly). So, we had to make do with buying some makeup remover wipes from a nearby pharmacy to use for the trip. The breakfast downstairs was only 10 Euros and was a pretty decent continental spread that was ideal for getting started on a busy day where lunch wasn't a guarantee. There is access to freshly squeeze your own orange juice....however, the machine had no instructions and no staff to assist and all four of the groups of people in the dining area had no luck in figuring it out. It's a decent hotel and the access to the Marais is good but it was a little further from the nearest metro station (Chatelet Les Halles) than we had expected. Decent value for money but I suspect we could have done a little better.
The wine cellar converted to dining room was really special. Plus, there is a very friendly and adorable hotel cat! Hotel staff were accommodating and very nice. Rooms were clean and pretty.
We stayed in a room on the top floor, which meant that the ceilings were quite low/slanted. If you're on the taller side I recommend getting a room lower down.
Nice location, many restaurants nearby. Love the neighborhood. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
The location and the style of the hotel are stellar. I really loved it. The staff was lovely.
I didn't care for the specific room we had. It was a family room but was in the attic with sloped ceilings too short to stand up in. If I come back to Paris I'd gladly stay here again but I'd ask for a different room.
Nice little hotel, excellent location, exceptionally friendly staff. Very good, safe neighborhood, nice convenience store right next door from the hotel, short walking distance to a metro station, many caffès, bakeries, restaurants around. The room was of decent size, had 2 separate comfortable beds, good size bathroom with bathtub, small fridge and coffee maker in the room. All of the staff, starting with the reception and ending with breakfast room staff and cleaning ladies, everyone was very kind, helpful and friendly. We arrived very early in the morning, but they honored our request for early check-in and our room was ready right away when we arrived!
