    Pros +

    • Seriously how about EVERYTHING! I had 6 rooms for my large family. 3 of them were the Jr. Suites right on the canal...so lovely. The view was incredible.
    • It exceeded any and all expectations
    • There is a restaurant on site that was, quite frankly as good as any we experienced in town! I’d like to call out Paulo Trevisson, who was one of the main managers and wore a lot of hats. Personable and charming, he embodied the spirit of palazzo stern as much as anything there! P.s. this place has an amazing chapel on premise and the decor was more beautiful than the pictures give credit to! I would recommend the palazzo stern to anyone without hesitation!

    Cons -

    • no how much equity have in the market
    • I could have booked my whole damn vacation there…live and learn
    • Usually our basic room is small but comfortable. This time we were on the third floor and the room seemed smaller than usual. Also the heat level—ranging from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius made sleeping uncomfortable. Hotel air conditioning gets turned off by law in the fall, but we have always visited in the spring or fall and have never been so uncomfortable. Perhaps because heat rises and makes the situation worse the higher the floor. We used booking.com because the price was somewhat lower than the hotel website. We wondered if that was why our room was not as good as we expected from past experience.

Great location near Grand Canal and vaporetto stop, which give you an opportunity to get to different sights fast and easy. Also staff are very polite, full breakfast, interior.

    9LorenPosted on: 11-7-2025

Wonderful location right next to a vaporetto stop, beautiful room and building, service was impeccable.

This was our third stay here. The staff is exceptional. They can’t do enough for you. The setting is fabulous—private terrace on the Grand Canal, where you can have a drink while watching the world go by. Vaporetto stop right there and walking distance to shops, sights, and restaurants.

The location was fantastic! Right in the grand canal and a water taxi stop was right next to the hotel.

    10MICHAELPosted on: 9-25-2025

The Palazzo Stern Hotel is super conveniently located next to water transit and also has its own private taxi dock. The staff was responsive and made our restaurant reservations and boat taxi reservations for our tours. The restaurant is located on the grand canal. I highly recommend this property. MikeB

    Great location.

Room was outdated and small. Electrical outlets were dangerously outdated and need upgrades

    10MadelinePosted on: 7-7-2025

Perfect location. Authentic. Luxurious without pretension.

The air conditioning was weak but the outside temperature was over 95 degrees F so this is understandable.

    10StyllPosted on: 6-27-2025

This place is absolutely beautiful and in a prime location on the Grand Canal.

We had dinner there one evening. It was our least favorite meal of the trip. It wasn’t that it was bad, just that everything else was so much better.

    Location and staff only

The hotel policies. We had paid with breakfast. So in breakfast they have 2 menu wich is included there was only sweet bread and some fruits and conflacks And the basic things egg and salad and some becon all paid. Its just bull shit When we came water texi came for us for freeWhen check out time. The texi is paid In room not even basic water for guest Nothing zero accommodate from them Only like hotel location and very nice kind staff. ? for them

    Great location and staff.

Room was very warm at night as AC is off until summer months

    6PrimakovaPosted on: 3-24-2025

The building and it’s location on the Grand Canal are amazing. We’ve got a free upgrade of the room. Friendly reception.

The breakfast was bad and ridiculously pricy. We’ve paid 70€ for two to get very bad coffee, fruit salad with 90% apples, poorly prepared omelet, cheese slices from a supermarket as a cheese plate. The waitress was quite unfriendly. Even with the upgrade the room was small, no view, no charm.

    9AnnaPosted on: 2-12-2025

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The historic building retains its original character & charm, while offering up to date facilities. Terrace right on Grand Canal would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.

    7NandorPosted on: 2-6-2025

Great location, beautiful view and terrace. Building cannot be more beautiful, well preserved and very beautiful the stair case.

Rooms are a bit ran down but it’s not too bad. Shower did not have pressure at all, difficult to have an express shower.breakfast was not good very expensive and simple. Better to go somewhere else.

    9LieselPosted on: 11-24-2024

Location, atmosphere, size of room, decoration, all superb

Breakfast was expensive. Maybe in summer when you can habe it on the terrace, it would be worth the premium, but in winter? Better to go to a vibey cafe bar in the neighbourhood

    10KennethPosted on: 11-12-2024

Ideal location - Dorsoduro is a nice local neighborhood. The Hotel is located very close to a vaporetto stop which makes it easy to get around town.

    10ChrisPosted on: 11-5-2024

This is the best hotel that we have found in Venice in a great quiet but central location. This was our 8th visit in ten years and we will continue to return to Palazzo Stern.

I preferred the breakfast when it was a buffet service.

    10MadeleinePosted on: 11-4-2024

It’s in a fantastic location and is not at all pretentious.

Nothing really. The only thing we missed was having a kettle in the room to make hot water bottles, we being brits! Also we thought it would be better if they served fresh orange juice instead of some kind of squash.
