No breakfast, or on Relais next door but tea/coffee, milk sugar hot water and 2 fridges in common room. Very handy location made up for odd facilities .

We enjoyed the location, cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. The staff was lovely!

Charming inn in the heart of Knowlton, aka Three Pines of the Louise Penny series of detective novels, dating to 1849 but fully modern. Restaurant serves delicious meals.Stairs leading to rooms from street level. Did not see elevator so check re accessibility.

    All good.

The room and bathroom were really clean and very nice. They gave us a 10% discount to use at the restaurant downstairs. All of the staff we spoke with were friendly and nice.

The only issue we found was that the bed and the couch in our room were very stiff and so it made for a sleepless night.

Location and ease of access. Relatively cheap stay.

No staff around really. Granted it was during Christmas but there was noone around except other guests. Nobody by the front desk no matter how early or late. No housekeeping at all during the stay. Also no elavators so had to lug luggage up 3 flights of stairs. For the price it provided the basics of a room with 2 beds and a bath. But anything beyond that is non existant.

The hotel is so old, historic and unique. The decor is lovely. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom had everything we needed.

The restaurant in the auberge doesn't open for breakfast. We walked around the corner to 3 Pines Cafe for superb coffee and fresh croissants. The hotel is on the second floor with no elevator and the steps are quite steep. There is no concierge service so be aware when packing. It is on the crossroads with traffic 24 hours. It was noisy at certain times of the day.

The location was excellent, center of town. Quaint historic property. Free parking.

2nd floor reception with no elevator made it difficult for one of our guests with mobility issues.

    Historic, location, staff

    Stuff was rather old

Location was excellent Room was very clean

Room was very small. No host was available for most of the time. Only a set of steep stairs to access the room. No one was available to give advice about surrounding restaurants etc

We loved the historical aspect of the building. Our room was small but extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff was super friendly. The restaurant in the building was wonderful. Great place to stay in Knowlton!

Only thing we didn’t like was stairs (no elevator).

    5AlanPosted on: 10-10-2025

Location. Small discount on meals at Le Relais, although it was not 10% as the voucher stated.

Saggy mattress. Thin pillows. Steep stairs. Self check-in. No maid service. No soap dispenser in shower/tub.

    6JanetPosted on: 10-9-2025

Central location. Coffee station was good

No staff for any issues. Unable to find controls to regulate heating in the room. No soap in the shower

The location in the center of town was perfect! So easy to walk to the bookstore/cafe and other local shops. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Antique furnishings added to the charm. And it is attached to the Relais Cafe for great meals.

The Auberge is an older building so people should not expect updated, modern facilities. We were fine with the antique furnishings. It would have been nice to have a microwave, but there was one in a common room down the hall. People need to be aware there is a long flight of stairs to the actual hotel and no elevator.

Difficult to find outlets for charging near me in bed. No elevator so difficult on the stairs with bad knees.

    9FoottitPosted on: 10-1-2025

The balcony! We had a lovely dinner out there, in the wonderful sunshine. Gorgeous flowering baskets. We also enjoyed the bright breakfast room, that was a bonus.

We didn't appreciate the stairs - it is hard hauling everything up, at my age! Thankfully, there was someone at the desk in the morning to help us get it all down. I didn't see anything identified as an accessible parking spot.In the room, there was a little drop of a few inches from the bedroom to the bathroom - it should have been better marked. I missed it once and almost fell. My friend missed it several times. Especially in the night-time. Dangerous.
