About

Le Monastère des Augustines, a health and wellness center, is a former monastery from the 17th century that has been completely restored. Two room types are available; the “Authentic” rooms, restored in a monastic spirit, are former Augustinian cells with shared bathrooms. The “Contemporary” rooms are modernly furnished while respecting the heritage character of the place. These rooms have a private bathroom. To promote relaxation and tranquility, there are no televisions or telephones in the rooms. Guests will find one on the upper floor in the living area, where computers are also available. Free WiFi is available. Guests can also take a self-guided tour of the museum or join a guided tour for an additional fee. Le Vivoir offers healthy, local, and organic food such as vegetarian, fish, poultry, and meat dishes. Breakfast is taken in silence, a morning ritual in harmony with the site’s historic vocation. A boutique and a take-out counter are also available. Guests will enjoy the wide range of overall health care and the daily program of activities.

    Pros +

    • The history and the museum.
    • Absolutely beautiful setting, unique historic hotel and totally relaxing experience.
    • Loved the peacefulness, King Bed and the best smelling hotel I have ever stayed in. Organic silent breakfast was great, delicious and plentiful.

    Cons -

    • Parking, there are not too many spots in the lot closest to entrance. In the winter this could be a challenge.
    • I liked it all!
    • My only real critique has to do with Booking.com misrepresenting the parking situation. The parking lot here has about 16 spots and they're first come/first served. The parking is also not free. If you don't happy to get a spot here, you'll have a difficult time finding it elsewhere and you'll have to pay a lot for it (around $50 per day). The hotel's website says this but booking.com simply says there is on-site parking, and does not mention the very limited availability of those spots.

The property is amazing, really well located and walking distance to the main points in Quebec. The staff is great and helpful. The room is clean, comfortable and cozy. Their breakfast is absolutely wonderful. I would definitely stay there again when I return to Quebec

    I liked it all!

Loved the breakfast - calm, quiet, with lots of healthy options. The space is incredibly clean and features a lot of artifacts showcased in all of the spaces. It's also a quick walk to various bars, restaurants and shops - about 5-10 minutes. The rooms, as stated, have no tvs but it's great to hang out and read a book. I had wondered if the shared bathroom experience would be strange, but the bathrooms were clean and there was always plenty open.

Beautiful, quiet, secure grounds, incredible renovation of facility from the 1600 and beautiful additions to the architecture, highlighted by excellent tour by Richard, perfect location for walking access to all of the walled city in Quebec, great staff, fantastic massage by Nathanael. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was excellent all the way around. The quiet setting and open area were quite nice. Location was very good.

The room was a bit too spartan--the only chair was the desk chair for resting.

    10ShawnPosted on: 1-19-2026

So serene and recharging. The beds were so comfortable. Best hotel sleep I’ve ever had. Breakfast was so thoughtful and so much care put into everything. Loved the herbal tea so much we bought some to take home.

The front desk service was excellent and the room was immaculate; there is also the spiritual atmosphere of the building which is extremely conducive to silence and contemplation.

Nothing really. I have fond memories of my stay.

I loved that the hotel was beautiful, clean, and historic. The silent breakfast was relaxing and featured excellent food and amazing homemade herbal teas.

Nothing, everything was perfect. What I didn’t like was that I couldn’t stay longer!

Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choices. The location was excellent. We did not have a car and we were in walking distance if every where we wanted to go.

The food could have been as little warmer.

Beautifully developed historical building. Here and there compromised as a business hotel though.

Windows could not open and cooling was not possible. Lack of power sockets next to the desk and bed.

Great location. The building is modern and aesthetic. Being a monastery, there's a beautiful curated exhibition about it's history. The breakfast was amazing as well. The rooms were comfortable, and the bathrooms, although shared, were large and spotless. As a solo female traveller, it was very safe and comfortable

As a solo traveller, I felt safe and welcome. The breakfast was delicious and the kind of quality that really makes you appreciate food. I felt such serenity staying here, the facilities are fantastic and the location is central to all the best bits. I want to come again!!

Clean and spacious. Great breakfast. Wonderful tour of the monastery.

No place to put belongings. No dresser, I understand the austerity aspect but maybe luggage racks or something where my clothes are not on the floor. Also, they wish for you to use towels for multiple days which I'm fine with but give me hooks to put them on.

Very clean Kind staffAiry and full of natural light Full of history Included breakfast Very quiet Location

Having to take two separate elevators to get to our floorNot having tea and coffee available all day Small room

    5JonathanPosted on: 12-1-2025

Not a bad location, near the old centre; breakfast ok

Staff indifferent; superior room very cramped with little space to move around, sloping walls made it seem even smaller; frustrating to have to get 2 different lifts just to get to the room. The breakfast is silence is a mixed blessing as everyone is then on their phones
