    Cons -

    • Not the worst thing in the world but in my room (204) it was very cold ... also, I knew before going, the club downstairs rocks out very loud (but PROMPTLY CUTS IT OFF @ 2AM).
    • My stuff was stolen and I couldn't sleep at all the AC did not work I had to rent another hotel
    • There were homeless people right in front of the hostel, which made me feel uncomfortable at first.

Reasonable pricing, got to meet a lot of people. Located in downtown, walking disito restaurants and bars.

There were homeless people right in front of the hostel, which made me feel uncomfortable at first.

What i liked best was the location and ease of getting to the nightlife and fun stuff to do downtown. Also the hostel bar was super cool and thi space was quiet for being downtown.

The check in procedure was not clearly explained before arrival so I was kinda lost on how to get in the hostel there's not always an attendant at the desk.

    the location was excellent

The manager, was very rude to me and the guy that stayed with me. Condescending, arrogant, and just rude. I left because of that. Hotel employee on the other hand was extremely nice

Everything was very clean and thr checkin process was smooth!

Centrally located, staff was great and very accommodating. I am fairly new to the hostel world, but out of my hostel stays, it felt more like family. Always gathering together to do things, more of an inviting environment. I would highly recommend staying here. Showers are always clean, laundry room is a plus, it’s free and they have high quality products. Oh and did I mention there’s a speakeasy. Gabriel and Brannon are fantastic.

Just missing a pool but there are plenty of places nearby that make up for it.

    9RebeccaPosted on: 2-22-2026

Very central location, and the speakeasy below was fantastic. Beds have all the right amenities like curtains (bottom bunks only, top have a bit of a fence for privacy), outlets, private lamps and fans. Beds were comfortable. Showers and restrooms were clean. Kitchen was fantastic, and laundry is free (be warned, it takes a long time for the drier). Staff are excellent.

I was warned upon booking that the elevator was out of order - this is no problem for me, as it is only a 3 story building, but what was a problem was thay the maintenance starting drilling and hammering directly against the wall of the dorm at 7am. I know it has to be done, but we are paying to sleep, so maybe ask that the maintenance be done during later hours of the morning at least?Otherwise, excellent hostel - for being one of, if not the only hostel in Austin, I was super impressed. Thank you!

The location and there was a speakeasy on the first floor. Close to 6th Street where there's many restaurants, bars and music venues.

The room was a bit chilly a couple days, an extra blanket was offered .

The location is great. The bus to the airport is a 5-10 minute walk, which was a factor in my selecting this hostel. I had some fruit for breakfast, free. Which was also nice. Staff was helpful. Facilities were mostly clean. I'd stay again and recommend the place. Nice locker. Nice bed in female dormitory.

Female dormitory was stuffy, a noisy ceiling fan clanked which to me wasn't a bad thing. I like white noise. But someone (rightfully if they're a light sleeper) turned it off. I woke up humid and sticky. Otherwise, no complaints. Bed was better than I'd assumed. I liked the room.

I liked the kitchen, well equiped and a good place to meet people, the speak easy bar on the bottom level seemed popular. I also appreciated the bar meet and greet for socialising. There is also a great golds gym just accross the road.

on the weekends the bar on the ground level was very loud untill 2am. Didn't bother me as on the weekends i was out and about anyway..weekdays were quieter.

Breakfast was on time: coffee and various toasts, fruits.

    Location was great.

I have disabilities and getting up on the bunkbed was a pain in the butt

    9JanetPosted on: 1-19-2026

I loved meeting the friendly travelers staying at the hostelI loved the free food and contributing food when I left

The bedroom did not have great air quality, my friend’s room had better AC. Fresher air would be great.

    8SarahPosted on: 1-19-2026

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they make sure to include you in the group activities at the hostel. There’s also a bar downstairs, which I didn’t get the chance to visit, but it sounds like a lot of fun with live music and everything. The hostel is very well located it’s super close to 6th St, where there’s tons of nightlife. They also offer breakfast, which is mostly bread/bagels, coffee, and tea, but it definitely does the job.

If you stay on the second floor, you might hear some noise from the bar downstairs that was the one thing I didn’t really like hahaha. Also, maybe the bathrooms could be cleaned a bit more often.

    Comfortable, accommodating, friendly, clean, safe.

Nothing within Firehouse's control. This place was great, would recommend to anyone for short or long term.

The social nature of everything was the highlight of the trip. Loved hanging out with everyone and exchanging stories with them.

It was a little warm but a small fan on my bed fixed it right away.

I liked the price, the Lounge, and all of the amazing people and staff that met.

I wish there was parking closer and cheaper.
