The location was near our destination.
Very clean, lots of towels, great morning breakfast food. Only complaint is the lack of choices on the television. Otherwise, everything was great.
The location was very convenient and safe. Short driving distance to places to eat.

Disgusting, filthy, I had bed bugs and had to sleep in a chair. I could not lay in the bed without being eaten up. This place should be torn down and no one should ever have to go there.
Quick check in with pleasant front desk person
Helpful staff, good location, good water pressure

Close to Murray and cheap
An apparent remnant of earlier hotel days, this was a surprisingly clean and commodious hotel. The hotel appears to have been recently updated and had a fully functioning heating-cooling system.

I stay in this hotel every time I visit the area. The hospitality, cleanliness, and politeness of the staff makes it one of my favorite hotels to frequent.

The remodeled rooms were nice. Track lighting over the headboard made for a nice atmosphere. Open shelves instead of drawers were a great idea.
It was close to places to eat and get supplies
The location was very central and easy to find. We appreciated having a refrigerator, along with table and chairs for dining.

Large clean room. Decent breakfast. Location good.
The room was awesome and breakfast was on point. The pool was great. I especially liked the giant window for light.
The suite had three sleeping places - 2 king-size beds and the couch was able to accommodate our third person! We all like the split bathroom facilities - that way 2 could be getting ready to go simultaneously. Very clean and well-kept!

Top Tips
- Fly into Memphis International Airport (MEM), about 120 miles (193 km) or a 2-hour drive from Union City, as it offers the most flight options. Reserve a rental car at MEM and drive directly, since many major hotel chains in Union City do not provide airport shuttles. Check if your hotel chain offers preferred rates with major car rental brands.
- Select mid-scale chains like Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn in Union City for reliable service, free continental breakfast, and included business amenities, which can save you $8-$15 per person daily on meals. Explore complimentary breakfasts that often feature local Southern options like biscuits or grits, and verify details at check-in.
- Most Union City hotels provide free surface parking with accessible spaces near the lobby, making car rental more economical than repeated rideshares for local travel. Ask if ADA-designated parking is available or if special permits are required during events.
- Request accessible or ground-floor rooms in advance if mobility is a concern. For step-free access or visual alarms, confirm availability with your hotel when booking, as chain hotels can clarify specific accessibility features.
- Book hotels 2-4 weeks ahead for the Reelfoot Lake event seasons (spring fishing tournaments, late fall waterfowl hunting), when demand and prices can climb 20-30%. Ask about member-exclusive rates or cancellation windows during special event periods.
- Expect strong AC use in summer, with July averages of 90-95°F (32-35°C). Contact your hotel in advance if you need a quieter room or extra climate control amenities, as many modern rooms have in-room controls and can provide additional bedding upon request.
- Use credit or debit cards from familiar U.S. banks, since cash acceptance can be limited and ATMs may be scarce after downtown business hours. Verify your hotel’s deposit and card policies, as some chains require a credit card at check-in.
- A combined 15% state and local occupancy tax is added to hotel bills, which means $15 in tax on a $100 room. Check if your hotel loyalty program offers rewards or discounts that help offset these taxes.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speeds directly with your hotel if you plan to work remotely; typical speeds are 25-50 Mbps but reliability can vary. Request business center access or enhanced Wi-Fi packages at check-in for uninterrupted work.
- For less noise, request a top-floor room in older motels built before 2005 along US-51, as these often lack soundproofing and a higher floor can cut street noise by about 50%. Ask about newly renovated or interior-facing rooms at chain hotels to further reduce noise.
- Use local bank ATMs such as Regions or First South to avoid $2.50-$3.75 surcharges found at non-local ATMs in hotel lobbies; local bank ATMs usually charge $1-$1.50 per withdrawal. Consider mobile or contactless payment methods accepted by major chains to minimize ATM use.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) when using foreign cards at hotel desks, as this can add a 3-5% markup. Review your hotel’s currency conversion policy and confirm the total in USD before authorizing payment.
- Union City's tap water meets all EPA standards and is safe to drink; no boil alerts have occurred in the last 7 years. Ask about water bottle refill stations or lobby hydration options at leading hotels.
