Pros +
- The staff
- An historic hotel centrally located. We could walk to most of our activities.
- To give this review some level of balance I wanted to try and find something. But even the location was surrounded by homeless people. And the city seems to have died. Such a shame.
Cons -
- We ordered room service for breakfast. We were so disappointed when it arrived in a paper bag on plastic with plastic utensils. I had a hard time cutting my eggs Benedict. It was disgusting. I never would’ve expected that sort of food at our top hotel.
- We did not get any help with bags when entering and exiting the hotel. There were no luggage carts or porters who helped. Check-in was slow as clerks were all on the phone
- Everything. 4.5* seriously? It is so old and broken. Only 1 lift working, and that had lights out. Carpets stained. My room had no window. Generally tatty. Do not book here if you want anything other than a 2* experience.

Staff were kind. Good location. Complimentary waters in room.
One working elevator to service all floors of hotel. Took up to 20 minutes to leave building with no stairwell option. Welcome letter explained there would be daily housekeeping, but there was none. I had to call to request more & for room to be made up.
The room was perfect, I loved the provided toiletries and the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful. The location was phenomenal and had immediate access to the Broad Street Line. The finest stay of my life
The curtains didn't block all the light from the courtyard. That's all I can think of.
Location is great
Breakfast wasnot included and was expensive to pay for.
The historic building, the room was clean- nice big windows- view was good. Not too loud for being city view. The gym was nice but kind of small.
the staff was not that helpful when we had questions. a little rude, like they were wanting to be done with their shift. I understand the hotel is under construction but everyone seemed bothered if we had questions about the city.
Location
room was overpriced and Not 4.5 star quality. Bathroom was old and you could hear tiolet flush and shower run from another room even though i booked a private interior suite. No view if outside, room overlooked banquet hall and there was plates banging
The room was spacious and clean. The location of the room Was right next to the elevator which was perfect since we were getting in exhausted and leaving early. The staff was also amazingly helpful and courteous. Even lent us an umbrella!
The pillows were a little thin and loud
Great historic location. Wonderfully decorated.
3 of the entrances were closed off. I assume because of public reaction to the pandemic, but it made logistics slightly more difficult. Only reason mot full points.
The location in center city was perfect for a weekend in the city and the
For being rated as a 4 star hotel the atmosphere was not as good as expected, but the staff were friendly and attentive.
The proximity to central Philly is unbeatable. Great shopping and plenty of nice restaurants in the ten block area around City Hall and Liberty Bell Square!
The cost of hotel parking jumped from $35 to $53 in three years (actually a little less). The service was great but what an expensive price for such return. I felt a bit ripped off.
We got a spacious room, everything was clean.
We needed a microwave to warm our toddlers milk. But they only have microwaves on 1 floor and I had to take the elevator down 2x /Day. I will admit they said if we really really needed one, they would provide it. I left that option for others
It was very clean and centrally located. Staff was very polite and helpful. Breakfast options were the best I¿ve seen at a hotel in a long time, regardless of pandemic.
Parking was $40 per night. Not a fan of additional parking charges at hotels. Parking should be included in the cost of the room, regardless of location.
Charming, wonderful staff - very attentive and helpful.
We specifically wanted a hotel with a pool. The pool is shared with a spa/gym. It's a lap pool. Must reserve your space beforehand. Not what we had in mind.
great location
rooms were unclean, had to get moved due to vomit on the toilet and backed up in sink. second room was in disrepair, toilet paper dispenser broken, shower liner disgusting- i could go on. Not what I was expecting from a 4* hotel.
the location
Needs to be renovated- outdated furniture, carpet and paint on the walls
The location is great and the bones of the hotel are beautiful. It could use some updating.
Our room was positioned next to the staff elevators that ran constantly. I requested twice to be moved and the staff was in accommodating.
I love the spacious rooms!!!
In the evenings, the forward facing entrance is locked and there are no clear signs indicating where to go. Its not problematic once you know, but can be confusing.
