Pros +
- The atmosphere, the friendly staff, the location.
- Location
- I have stayed at the Alexander Inn several times, but not recently. It has a great Center City Philadelphia location and the complementary happy hour and light breakfast was unexpected.
Cons -
- Rooms were on the small side with rather old furnishings.
- Pretty outdated decor, poor HVAC situation (tiny window AC too small for the space), broken faucet.
- While I knowingly booked a room with a single twin bed, it was a little smaller than expected.

The staff and the social gathering every evening
A little upkeep was needed for this older building
Laid back, cozy, safe, and private atmosphere. Excellent location
The room was a bit outdated but corresponded to the motif of the hotel. Bay window city views were excellent
Walking distance to so many of Philadelphias attractions as well as wonderful food and bars! Clean hotel with really nice staff
I loved our stay at the Alexander! Wonderful quaint hotel with beautiful art decco decor. Lively breakfast in the morning, very clean. Staff is amazing and very helpful.
No. We loved our stay in every way.
The room was advertised to be 2 double beds with a refrigerator. It was one double bed and one twin bed. No refrigerator. Also, they advertised parking available with no mention of having to pay for parking 1 and 1/2 blocks away.
The staff! They are absolutely the best one could ever come across! Thank you for your kindness, your assistance answering questions about directions, restaurants, and parking, and how you run this wonderfully unique hotel!
We would have loved to have parking on site, but so would everybody in Philadelphia. That's one of the unique aspects of Philadelphia. Actually we enjoyed the walking!
The rooms are fine, especially for the price. We had a very nice room, but the bed gave my partner and I backaches (not sure why). The carpeting is older and feels it. The staff were very courteous and the room was quite clean overall.
This is an older hotel and that's part of the charm. All was good -- the front desk staff were gracious and helpful. However, the older gentleman who was in charge of the dining room on Sunday morning did not smile and he seemed annoyed.
Great location, clean, beautiful, friendly staff, very reasonable price, easy to work with.
All good !!
The location is great and close to everything. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast is quite satisfactory including different cereals, hard boiled eggs and delicious pastries. The coffee is particularly delicious.
I just wish the parking facility was closer
Friendly service
No mini fridge
The location of this hotel was wonderful. It was close to everything and the surroundings were clean and well kept!
My husband and I love staying at Alexander Inn! Everyone there is very welcoming, and the Social Hour was a surprise bonus! The location is also very convenient to the culture and history of the city.
Breakfast was a nice surprise as was the social hour. The location was exceptional. The people were very nice. The room was large and clean.
The room was a bit dated as far as the bathroom etc. Lean into the retro aspect!
The location, price, and the fact that the reservation included breakfast
The lack of available parking, including temporary parking in front of the building for unloading and loading upon arrival and departure. The building has a lot of deferred maintenance needs. The bathroom and shower tile have been patched/repaired numerous times and it just looks really bad at this point. The beds were ultra firm, which I like, but all of the pillows in the room were lumpy messes. Water out of the tap is quite cloudy; this was not just a matter of air bubbles in the old pipes because it did not resolve after allowing the water to rest in a glass. This isn't unexpected with an old building in Philadelphia, but the hotel should provide complementary bottled water in the room. The included breakfast was decent. They're trying but there is one employee who is scrambling to keep it all together. Options include cold cereal (Cherios and something else basic/plain but not corn flakes), make your own waffles, some bagels/pastries, hard boiled eggs, and Quaker oatmeal packets. They have tea packets and regular and decaf coffee, and offer regular milk and almond milk. I ate hard boiled eggs and oatmeal, which were fine, but the microwave for the oatmeal is not out front so I had to go back to the kitchen to ask the employee to put it in the microwave.
The Location is good. The size of the bed was too small. The room was too small. No water was provided for drinking on the first day or on checking. There need to be more options for breakfast.
I did not like the size of the bed and the room. If i was a travelling for work a work space would have been necessary. I did not like the options for breakfast.
Location was perfect! The staff was friendly, professional and accommodating! The breakfast was great! Christian was very accommodating and the social gatherings at 5:00 was on point. Thank yoy
Only thing that could have have been better is the room was a little warm but other than that everything was awesome
