Cons -
- There is a slight but noticeable funky odor in the bar/eating area that was somewhat off-putting. Not too strong, but enough to notice it (sort of a pungent sour dish rag or ammonia smell). The smell is throughout that dining area (all three rooms).
- Maybe a couple mirrors to get ready to
- The staff didn’t locate room key after check out and tried to charge for it before checking in. The deposit is still held a month later

The hotel has everything you need when traveling to this great city for work or pleasure. Great variety of restaurants, clean and spacious gym, sauna, bar and breakfast, and great staff.
There’s a lot to love about the Hotel Chelsea: the spacious room, the comfortable bed, the in room nespresso machine, the location near the Whitney, Highline, Chelsea market, art galleries and public transit, the responsive staff (prior to check in, we requested a toaster be brought up to our room and it was there when we checked in)
The price point is higher than similar properties but understandable given the hotel’s illustrious history!
Charming old converted apartment building with rich history. Very quaint, but quirky if you don’t know what you’re getting into. The lobby is actually off putting, it almost looked like a low end 1 star hotel. When you get to the front desk, you start to see the charm.Good restaurants in the building. Very comfortable beds and pillows.
Our room was tiny, but I think that was just what was available on short notice during the holiday season. The gym was also tiny, but it was also charming. In the converted attic with views of the neighborhood.
Loved the staff the decor the locatiom
Loved the feeling of the hotel, great location, good food
Lighting in room could be better. Room was small-but that might have been room selection. Seems like most rooms are larger
Loved everything about this. The rooms. The lobby. The restaurants and lobby bar. We were delighted to stay here!
Everything was amazing! From the art to the room. I would want to stay more nights next time to take advantage of everything.
For the price, I would have loved for there to be free breakfast, but there were so many complimentary drinks and snacks in our room.
Everythinglocation, the restaurants, ambiance!! The bar great drinks and cocktails!!
Room 10W could have more light it is quite dimmed and dark walk in closet is much to dark
The location
Fire alarm and evacuation at 4am
Hotel is iconic already by its reputation. Rooms, interior, atmosphere, bar, lounges.
Room and furnishings are eclectic and well designed, good products.
Bathroom needs magnifying mirror and better light

The vibe, scenery and bars at the hotel are great. The gym/spa are small but very nice.
- There was a tenant living in the room across the hall (older lady) that would cook every day/afternoon and open the door to the hallway so her appartment could clear out, the whole hallway and our room would smell of her cooking which wasn't great.- as we checked in into our paid 'upgraded/king bed/high floor' room it smelled like an ashtray. We requested another room as it was not pleasant. - They moved us to a room in the 1st floor, super noisy, impossible to rest and sleep as all the noise from the busy 23rd street and cleaning crews, trashcans, etc. - don't get a balcony room unless you smoke, it's totally useless.
This is truely the best Hotel i have stayed at. No it is not cheap but you have to stay here just once. The staff and facilities are great, and the Cafe Chelsea is second to none. We will be Back
Having to leave and go home.
The suite we had was gorgeous with the amazing work done by craftsmen in the yesteryears.
Located on East 23rd it was obvious after a brief walk that the area was not very conducive.
Iconic, historic, legendary hotel with luxury experience, in a great location for exploring. The decor is beautiful, original features respectfully restored and in keeping with original design. We had a room with balcony next to the sign ! Bath tub and seated area. Staff were so helpful and friendly and made our stay perfect, we were given complimentary room upgrade and wine as we were staying at the Chelsea to get married. Steps away from subway. Ideal place to explore the more interesting neighbourhoods in Manhattan and avoid the traditional tourist areas. An easy subway ride over to Brooklyn too. Chelsea flea and Chelsea market around the corner.
Absolutely nothing about the hotel !!! Perfect in every way. However, the staff at the Chelsea cafe weren’t as friendly and helpful as the hotel. Our waitress was pretty grumpy and made our wedding day breakfast uncomfortable. We didn’t go back to eat there again, even though the food was delicious.
Great location, beautiful room, very helpful and nice staff. The entire experience was amazing as the hotel is very beautiful.
