- Great location, responsive staff, nice sized room
- Location -we came to New York with a list of important places to see and visit and the hotel was centrally located for doing all of them in a relatively easy manner
- Perfect location, polite & professional staff, decent price
Cons -
- No smart TV which was no big deal
- Several small things were missing in the bathroom- hand soap near the sink- there was soap in the shower but not near the sink. Easily rectified.

The room was spacious and clean.
No food available in the bar
Staff was very nice and helpful when I needed things. Their breakfast was good with a nice selection. Overall cost was fair for what it is and the location is central.
The hotel is tired. The furniture in the rooms is worn and overall it needs some updates and refreshing. It's a great hotel and has a fun history but it needs some investment and updates. They only serve breakfast, no lunch or dinner in their restaurant.
Everything! The location is fab, central to lots of the main sights and within walking distance of many of them too - Rockefeller center, Times Square, Central Park to name a few. And you’re never far from a subway to get around the city. The hotel also has a lovely traditional style which gives it character. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. And the bar, Randolph’s, is a lovely space for a nightcap after a busy day sight seeing. We read the negative reviews about long lift wait times but didn’t experience this however might have been the time of year we went (Feb UK half term). Would highly recommend staying here and we’ll stay again when we return.
We were here at Christmas time. The hotel has great location and the view from our window was nice. The room was very clean and very comfortable for us.
We had to wait for the elevators for a really long time.
Great location beds comfortable
Small room curtains let in to much light and constant light under door
Great location and really friendly staff! Still has that old NY charm
Nothing really! Was a great two nights :)
Good location.
1. Not all staff were accommodating and as friendly as expected Vs price we paid to stay there. I was expecting more. 2. I could hear people from the neighbouring rooms talking all night. 3. The old school air conditioning and heating systems were noisy and turned on and off multiple times per night. 4. Good location but there are better options for the price you have to pay in my opinion.
Super clean, nicely maintained, loves the classic feel! Great location too.
Wish there was a mirror outside of the bathroom. Very small bathrooms.
The hotel is art deco style and the rooms are lovely. Comfortable pillows - an absolute must! Would just have liked a kettle to make tea. We aren’t all coffee drinkers!
The restaurant only served breakfast but not dinner. We didn’t use it at all, but would have done if it opened for dinner.
Room, location.
Had difficulty entering and exiting the garage for self parking.
The details made the difference! Each bedside had ample plugs & USB/C ports, good bedside and room lighting, and a special favorite of mine abundant space to unpack including bedside tables with 3 good sized drawers. It was especially cold while we were in NYC so having an extra blanket in the closet was great. The room was larger than most NYC hotel rooms and while not fancy, it really was a very comfortable spot and we'd book again happily. The evening doorman, Adam, was especially helpful. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was its proximity to MOMA -- very convenient!
While there was a basic coffee maker in the room that used Starbucks pods, we did miss having coffee available in the lobby. There were no tea pods in-room but I was able to jury-rig the device to use tea bags I carry with me when traveling.
Location, cleanliness and very efficient and friendly staff.
My room had NO light. Sort of an air shaft location. I was traveling for work so I chose an inexpensive room.
Staff is wonderful, very lovely group of people. The spaces were clean and inviting. I have family that once lived in the hotel in the 1930s and it was a wonderful experience getting to stay and experience the building and its living history.
Wifi was not working well however we were out in the city for much of the stay and didn't need wifi. No need to stay in when the whole city is there to explore.
Great staff, great facilities.
Small bathroom. View from windows was scaffolding.
Loved the doorman with top hat and the gold elevators. A warm boutique feel to the place.
The style and location and the lovely doorman
The bag storage were not friendly and I think it is disgraceful you charge to store bags per item when the hotel is so expensive I have been charged for this service anywhere else is world . The bar had limited opening hours and was very expensive
So I really enjoyed the friendliness of The staff. Ilani at reception was exceedingly efficient, her friendliness was infectious and I hope she is well appreciated
It would’ve been nice to have heat lamps just outside the door so as to keep guests warm while they waited in the freezing cold for Ubers or Taxi. Also nice so it’s not too freeze out those hotel greeters who spend a considerable amount of time outside.
