    Pros +

    • The hotel staff are lovely and friendly and supportive. The lobby has an amazing self serve coffee machine and I love the historic vibe which remains even though the round table is no longer prominent in the dining area.
    • Lobby price value location
    • It's a charming, historic hotel, in a prime location. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. The lobby bar and restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a great crowd.

    Cons -

    • Nope. Not a thing.
    • Noise in room must have been heat , banging on pipes very noisy throughout the entire night
    • My room was a little small. But it was comfortable enough for me to have two friends up to share a bottle of wine and some desert. No complaint, really.

The Oak Room and the bar area.

    No room service.

I love the history behind it and the respect for that history and its traditions. It was very elegant, and the employees were all consummate hosts.

I had both dinner and breakfast in The Roundtable Restaurant. For dinner, the soup was not hot, barely warm. For breakfast, the Eggs Benedict was not hot.

The location was great for visiting midtown.

The room was the size of a shoebox! It consisted of a double bed; that's it! The bathroom was located in a closet.

Good location, historic character, helpful staff. The doorman loaned us umbrellas when the weather was poor.

The lower windows of the room were frosted, and the upper windows looked out to a brick wall. I didn't expect a view, but having some sky visible (or, ANYTHING) would have been nice.

It's history and location. The recent renovations are excellent, although the lobby has lost some of its charm.

    10KennethPosted on: 9-9-2015

We loved staying in an elegant small hotel with so much history. Very nice room, well appointed, excellent staff. We will stay again next time we are in NYC.

    10MelaniePosted on: 9-3-2015

This beautiful, recently renovated classic has charm & atmosphere to spare. I love literature and humor, & there is so much of both here, from the free copy of The New Yorker to the amusing quotes. Great gym, bar, staff, location. Plus Matilda the cat!

The hotel was unique and had a vintage feel. The staff was lovely.

The rooms are quite small but perfect for one person.

    Service, atmosphere, very comfortable bec

This is a grand old hotel with considerable charm. But there was no hot water between 8 pm and 7:30 am! This was awkward as we had to check out shortly after 8 AM for appointments. Staff was apologetic, but that didn't compensate for inconvenience.

    10LawrencePosted on: 8-22-2015

The location is ideal for the Up-Town area, the Staff could not have been nicer, cocktail were deliciously generous and the food (plenty of choices at all price ranges) was very good. They up graded us for a small fee and the place was quiet and clean!!!

My sister who took to long in the bathroom.

Love the location, service and decor

The air condition did not work well enough. It is quite warm.

Location, location, location. Center of the universe.

Price of the cocktails & wine. Over priced even for NYC.

    9Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 8-12-2015

Great customer service and clean rooms!

    Great hotel in NYC.

Great location midtown. Easy access to Grand Central. Clean rooms. Great shower.

The lobby felt a bit crowded with too much furniture.
