Moderne Hotel

A chic small boutique hotel in a great location. Close to many major tourist attractions and subway is right outside door. Rooms are small per the norm in NYC but well furnished. A couple should get a room with 2 beds in order to have enough space.

No. Had a very nice continental breakfast of pastries, cereal, yogurt, juice coffee and hot cocoa.

We were able to check into our room early and leave bags after we checked out. Very friendly staff.

Construction in front of the hotel. Also smelled pretty bad outside - not the hotel's fault. Elevator is very slow.

We had a great stay at Moderne Hotel. The room are typically small NYC rooms but clean and newly renovated. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The location is GREAT! Walking distance to Central Park, Rockefeller Center and Times Square. Affordable for the location, interesting art-themed hotel. My room was upgraded for free to a suite and it was fantastic!

Staying on my own, there was a 'trap door' looking area above the shower that was a little unsettling. I hadn't experienced that at a hotel before and it felt... weird. More than likely just a maintenance type door, but it felt weird to be there.

All the staff we met were great, nice and welcoming. We liked the clean and modern designs of the room/bathroom. The location was excellent. The hotel free WiFi Internet had a great signal and was plenty for streaming video.

Just be aware that this is a small boutique hotel without many amenities. No coffee or tea in room or the small guest lounge.

Interesting decor - modern and different. Easy to get to. Bed very comfortable.

We had an unfortunately experience with the checkout person but it was handled perfectly by the manager when I called a few days later.

The location was perfect for our plans which included a concert in Lincoln center and a broadway show. The front desk staff was warm and very capable.

The staff was bizarre. In the common room, the manager was conducting interviews for night staff. They were all large black men. And she kept talking about how she was paying people to be “aggressive”. I felt bad for the interviewees.

There was absolutely no natural light in my original room, which then thankfully got changed because of the problematic AC.

Helpful staff, did relocate me in a different room which was a slight improvement.

The room was very close to next building and had no natural light. The AC was very loud and even when turned off, the other outside AC were very loud. There were ongoing constructions in the hotel. The elevator was very slow and always busy.

Most important: There were NO bed bugs! Location on 55th Street is excellent. We felt safe (mother-daughter trip). Quick walk to MoMA and Broadway theaters. A lot of restaurants nearby. The employees at this hotel are excellent--very friendly and helpful.

Bathroom is awkward: no countertop with the sink, shower doesn't close. Towels and sheets had random stains, which could be bleached out. (They did change the sheets for us at our request.)

Not a 4 star hotel. Staff excellent. Facility lacking. I would not have booked there if I had known hotel.

Rooms tiny. Air conditioning throughout hotel was primitive. No amenities. Redeeming factor was staff.

The location was great, with easy discounted parking next door.

The room was very dark, as the only window faced a brick wall less than two feet away. Also, the only elevator was very slow.

Location to Times Square and theater district was great! 5 min walk and parking lot was literally right next door with a reasonable rate. ($35 for 24 hrs)... not bad for parking in the middle of the city

Rooms were pretty small but clean. No real view, since the hotel is sandwiched between talker buildings.

The air conditioner was very loud, no windows in the room. We reserved the room for four nights, was supposed to have double beds. The first two nights we had a room with a king bed.

Great location, great value, great staff, very friendly and helpful.

The staff was terrific, always friendly and happy to give assistance.

The room and bathroom were smaller than I expected. The design in the bathroom was not great.

The location is a major benefit, and the price is right, with subsidized parking ($30/day) a big plus. Staff very helpful, and the shower was nice. Clean, but interior design touches are a bit quirky.

Boutique hotel/small lobby may not be to everyone's taste. Didn't really dislike the room, but the downside to the price is most rooms are somewhat cramped and don't have natural light. Nice king bed though.

The location is perfect. Close to subway station , 3 streets away from the central park, a lot of diners andd restaurants around opened 24/7. The staff was amazing ! !! Helpd us with everything we asked, always smiled to us.
