Review summary

The hotel reviews highlight a consistent sentiment regarding the excellent location, which is praised for its proximity to public transportation, restaurants, and attractions. While the facilities and cleanliness received criticism—mentioning dirty rooms, old fixtures, and inadequate amenities—the comfort of the beds and spaciousness of some rooms were positively noted. Overall, the friendly and professional staff contribute positively to the experience, although issues with room cleanliness and maintenance detracted from the overall satisfaction.

Location. The friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed.Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores for food at night and coffees in the morning and trains close by to get around

Some mornings we had to have a cold shower.

The location is fantastic - you can easily walk around the Theater district from the hotel. Nearby is great shopping and restaurants, Central Park, and a Subway stop.

Upon entry to the lobby you will think that this hotelis going to be fabulous. The staff will greet you kindly and make you feel welcome. The lobby is spacious and clean, with a well maintained appearance. Keep that vision because things are going downhill soon. When you look around you realize that they are understaffed and you are going to wait for service at check in, luggage handling, food, etc. Your descent into sub-mediocre is complete upon entering your room. Our room had two queen beds with the most flat and uncomfortable pillows and mattresses I’ve encountered. Plenty of peeling paint throughout the room, a single, small, two drawer storage unit, a thermostat that exists but doesn’t really do much, and a cheap space heater to let you know that they really do have HVAC issues give you a real “honor e guest” vibe. It’s like hotel owners think that the cracked wallpaper, pilled blankets, and stained carpets should make you feel comfortable (if your definition of comfortable is a raging case of the ick). Oh but wait! We haven’t talked about the bathroom - with its limited storage and lack of ventilation! If the weather is cold, prepare to enter a meat locker for your midnight toilet visit. For the ladies, it’s a rather abrupt experience of cold if you get my drift. My personal favorite was the broken glass corner on the (peeling) mirror that was just waiting for a hand to cut. To be safe, I made sure our toiletries were moved to the opposite side of the sink so that little hands wouldn’t be near the sharp glass. Short story long - the location is fabulous and the staff are kind, but the rooms are poorly maintained. Clean? Yes. Maintained? Nope! Worth the price? Nowhere near. At this price point I don’t expect the Ritz, but I would like to stay in a room that is safe, has working heating and cooling throughout the room, and doesn’t look like it just survived a week with Motley Crue as the previous guest.

The location was fantastic. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. It has the potential to be a fantastic hotel but for a number of issues

Heating system - first room was blowing out cold air.Heating systems in all rooms very noisy and coming on and off during the night - unable to sleep.Had three room changes and looked at numerous other rooms-all with the same issues with the heating system. We had a major water leak in our second room and had to move rooms. All the rooms we were in were not very clean-the carpets and skirting boards had so much dirty and dusty. The furniture in the room was poorly maintained and broken-examples toilet roll holders, shower units, cupboards/drawer handles broken and loose, gaps and drafts coming through windows making it noisy from outside on the street. No kettle to make tea and coffee in your room.Staff at reception and the male night manager were extremely rude and condescending.

Location is great. Close to Central Park and Times Square. Staff was excellent. Room was clean with good linens and comfortable pillows. Heating/cooling system was perfect.

The price was excellent compared to similar properties in the same area. However, it is very expensive to stay in this neighborhood. While the price was relatively lower compared to others, it was still about twice what I wanted to spend.

Very convenient location. Room was a decent size and was very quiet.

The room did not appear to be cleaned when we arrived. There were dirty towels on the floor and garbage in the garbage cans. We called and more towels were delivered, but they did not take away the dirty ones or take the garbage from the cans.Elevators were slow and appeared to not work consistently. After waiting 10 minutes for an elevator, we took the stairs down multiple flights with our luggage.

Run down rooms, not good noise insulation, no coffee machine or mini fridge inside the room, price was high relative to value
