    Pros +

    • Position, price
    • It was close to my conference.
    • I liked the quiet, secluded location and its nearness to travel hubs.

    Cons -

    • Room was not clean; smelled distinctly of cigarette smoke even if marketed as non-smoking; electric switches did not work
    • I chose this location because it claimed to have parking. When I arrived, I found it was actually street parking. The person who checked me in was unaware of the parking rules, which resulted in me receiving a $95 parking ticket.
    • I had to go from the hotel to Penn Station very early in the morning, and I was unfamiliar with the streets, I had some hesitation walking with my travel case. All went well but if there had been someone at the desk, it would have comforted me.

    Located near Penn Station

Front desk doesn?t always answer the phone, had to call several times to check in, springs on the full size bed were totally shot, cheap bedding and dust on the old beat up furniture

We loved the location and how close it was to everything . It was quiet and clean and the staff were very nice and helpful.

Hotel is at the center on Manhattan with walking distance to anywhere within downtown.

The room was very small. As I was staying on the ground floor, the central cooling didn't work in my room as well as that of my neighbors. I complained to the onsite staff and even sent an email to management, but nobody tried to fix it or change my room.

It is literally a 4 minute walk to Penn Station

The way the doors are designed, they slam shut behind people. You could hear the slamming of the doors all night. It's basically a glorified hostel, which I guess I understand is all it can be given the location and time of year.

Everything. It¿s a hostel, not a hotel. Disgusting room. No blanket. Broken air conditioner. Smallest room I¿ve ever slept in. Shared bathroom. 1 towel. No towels in the shared bathroom for drying your hands. Absolutely disgusting place.

One of the worst experiences I've had with any lodging. I ended up leaving and finding a different hotel, as there was a group blasting music and yelling immediately down the hallway all evening. Also, the room was not clean.

Lamartine is an awesome value hotel if you compare price vs location vs interiors. Special thanks to host Mo who was of great help during the check in, and then later, when he upgraded my suites free of charge to a more spacious room. I will, probably, name both of my children after Mo, and the cat too. Thanks!!Love the Lamartine stay, will definitely return.

The location was in a great spot to where our event was located. It was a quick, easy, informal stay that was worth its money for its location in NY.

The bathrooms were dirty, someone peed on the floor, the beds were very hard with thin sheets and flat pillows.

Amazing location. Kind staff. Kind travelers and community.

Our bed was very broken. It was 10 degrees outside and at night they only turn the heat on from 2am-5am, I was freezing and I slept in my parka. There was no space to keep our luggage in our room, but they allowed us to store luggage in the common areas. Walls are paper thin - you’ll need earplugs because you can hear everything happening on the street as if you were sleeping on the street. Room was so small that my body consistently hit the wall mirror any time I left the room to use the restroom etc (I’m not a large person) - I felt bad each time my body banged into the mirror because the guest next to me could definitely hear it bang against their wall. This place is only ideal if you are a young solo traveler with one backpack and nothing more. We were rarely in the room because the location was so great, but after a long day of galavanting around NY, coming back to microscopic, dirty, cold room was not it.

    1RemiPosted on: 1-4-2026

That it was close to everything.

Room was deceiving compared to online photos. The room was small, walls were filthy, the heater was right behind our heads when we slept because the bed was crammed up against the wall. It should have only been a room to fit one single bed not a double bed for two people.

    3LoganPosted on: 12-15-2025

The location was great. The $400ish price tag caught my attention.

The room was the size of the bed. The room was dirty, the AC was still in the windows and we were freezing from the cold air flooding in. We were woken up in the middle of the night to ask if we were smoking by an employee. I have fotos.
