Sleep Inn Bronx - Belmont

I was not able to stay at this property since they indicated on the same day that I was arriving that they had to close hotel due to sewage issues. they offered an alternative place which I indicated was not going to work. I asked for refund as they promised, but I am still waiting for refund after more than 10 days.

I was charged for this reservation but hotel was not operating. They have not refunded the money charged for my reservation

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The Internet was working.

The environment was horrible, with an intimidating group of youngsters causing loud nuisance right next to the hotel late at night for many hours. Parking was full, so had to park elsewhere. Mediocre room, quite small. Check-in took a long time. Smell of drug abuse from other rooms. Minimalistic breakfast room.

The hotel was a good location for where we wanted to be. It appeared to be very clean.

We arrived and were told our reservation had been canceled 2 days before but we received no such notification. They said they were forced to cancel because of a sewage leak in the basement. Fair enough. However, as stated, we received absolutely no communication prior to our arrival. The staff made weak apologies and no effort was made to assist us in finding alternative accommodations. So, I'm having to stand there in the lobby and try to find another hotel and arrange and pay for an additional ride to this different hotel (which was *not* as close to where we wanted to be; but at least it was clean and had a vacancy). Also ended up paying considerably more for my room at the alternate hotel.The clerk did at least call the manager. But the manger never showed their face and obviously didn't instruct the clerk to help us in any way. This was an abysmal failure of customer service and I doubt I will *ever* stay at a Sleep Inn again (or any of their affiliated hotels).
