Hillwinds Inn - Blowing Rock

The location

They advertise continental breakfast. We had a hard time finding a place that served breakfast. Ended up at a Mexican restaurant the next morning. There was no one at the desk when we arrived. Our key was in a mailbox by the reception outside door.

It was very charming.

The room did not have a operating TV. Are check in was a little later in the day therefore, it was hard to get staff in order to repair.

All one level; close to downtown; quiet; staff was friendly and helpful.

Mini-fridge and microwave oven need to be upgraded; should be larger and located on a lower surface for short people like us. Would prefer regular coffeemaker over keurig.

I¿m allergic to Dogs and it was Dog hair on the mat outside of the room being walked inside and my allergies were terrible the entire stay. Maybe certain rooms should be non pet rooms. We definitely mentioned it to staff on the phone prior to arriving.

Loved this little motel. Room was clean and comfortable. No contact with staff due to COVID but plenty of towels & linens left in the room. Just a walk to Main St, Blowing Rock Brewery, shops, & restaurants. Would definitely go back.

Outside not kept up well.. light broken and dangling outside room. No real continental breakfast other than a bowl of bananas and yougurts on a Sunday morning. Beds uncomfortable

No stairs to climb. Older but nice & clean. Good water pressure in shower.

Bathroom sink was very slow to drain. I was only able to get one tv station and the max volume on the tv was so low I could only hear it if I got next to it

Nice room

Clerk computer had airline blocked thus unable to print boarding pass. TV in room was tiny.

Fantastic location, friendly staff, and a clean room.

Toilet and the show drain was slow. Nitpicking here.

Outdated, bathtub and sink were not working properly!

It would be nice to have cups usable in the microwave in order to make hot tea.

We paid $45 dollars for breakfast somewhere else and would have been nice had we known the hotel had breakfast on site.No one told us!!

The beds and bedding were great.

We didn't realize until the 2nd day that we didn't have cell service except if we stood around the door in rm 104. Also got locked out the first night and it took 20 minutes for someone to let us in while we waited outside freezing. The phones didn't work in 104 or 105. Hated the cold floors and our feet were filthy from walking on them.

We love the location with the close proximity to shops & resturants. Staff was very friendly.

It was very tricky to get the temperature in the room regulated. Even on a very cold night with freezing trmps outside, when set on 63 & it got unbearably hot. (I'm cold natured). Bumping it down just one degree got really cold. I wouldn't even mention this, except last year, our room never warmed up our qhole stay...and it was the nice suite that even had a fireplace.
