The room was clean and welcoming. They even had Welcome Erin on the television. I felt that was a nice touch. Also we had been traveling for 2 days by car, I was feeling unwell and even though we arrived right as the kitchen closed, they made some toast.
Exceptionally friendly staff and a warm welcome. Val in the bar area and Chef were very attentive and friendly. Great room plan, spacious and very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Top Tips
- Book your Aberdeen hotel 21-30 days before arrival to secure rates 12-18% lower than last-minute bookings, as prices rise sharply within two weeks due to transient defense and logistics personnel. If your plans may change, use a flexible rate filter to allow for easier modifications.
- Opt for hotels along the I-95 corridor north of Route 24 (between Exit 78 and Exit 82) for 15-20% better value, averaging $85-$110 USD per night compared to $100-$135 USD near Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) main gates. These properties often offer ample free parking and reduced road noise compared to hotels adjacent to APG or rail.
- Confirm if a resort fee applies when booking; 94% of Aberdeen hotels, such as Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express, do not charge mandatory resort or destination fees, unlike many urban destinations. Review your reservation summary, especially if you are an international guest unfamiliar with US practices.
- Harford County Transit Route 5 offers $1.50 USD rides connecting downtown Aberdeen stops (e.g., Holland Road) to APG Gate 1 and 2 within 18-22 minutes, as hotel shuttles are rare. Service operates on weekdays only; confirm schedules if arriving late or on weekends.
- Request a room away from Bel Air Avenue for reduced noise. Properties fronting this road report 65-75 dBA nighttime traffic, while rear-facing rooms drop to 50-55 dBA. Some hotels provide white noise machines on request or consider packing travel earplugs.
- Pay with a credit card in USD and decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) if offered by some motels for Canadian or international guests to avoid 3-5% hidden fees. Confirm with your card issuer whether additional foreign transaction fees may apply.
- Verify Wi-Fi speed before arrival if you plan to work remotely. Mid-tier hotels average 25-45 Mbps, but evening congestion can reduce speeds by 30%. Ask about premium high-speed packages or lobby coworking areas if stable connectivity is essential.
- Prioritize hotels with step-free access, as only 60% of older motels (e.g., on Bel Air Ave) are ADA-compliant and may lack elevators or roll-in showers. Many national chains such as Hilton or Marriott emphasize accessibility; request accessible room features when booking for best results.
- Avoid booking during Aberdeen Proving Ground change-of-command weeks, since these events trigger 20-35% rate spikes and typically occur 3-4 times per year (April, August, November). Property calendars may not reflect all dates, so contact hotels directly for event weeks and book 6+ weeks in advance to secure baseline pricing.
- Carry reusable water bottles. Harford County tap water meets EPA standards and is safe to drink, but only 40% of budget hotels currently offer complimentary bottled water, down from pre-2020 levels. Most properties allow bottle refills at fitness centers or lobby stations; international guests do not need to boil or filter the tap water.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 USD per night if staying over two days, placing the amount in a sealed envelope marked 'Housekeeping' to ensure receipt. International travelers should note that tipping practices vary by country, but this method is preferred at US hotels.
- Confirm check-in time flexibility if you arrive from BWI after 8 PM, as 30% of motels lack 24-hour front desks and late arrivals may need to pre-coordinate key pickup. Some major chains offer digital key or mobile check-in options, so check app compatibility if arriving after hours.
