The 1896 House Country Inn - Brookside & Pondside

I liked the home style atmosphere with solid wood furniture and checkered curtains. The room was comfortably large.

I thought I was booking a room in the Inn and expected a Victorian theme with community sitting areas.

I did not stay at this hotel because there was a town-wide power outage since the previous day. The room should never have been made available for reservation. The drinking water at the Tavern on the property was condemned.

The staff are always friendly and the room is more than adequate for the price, but the most prized feature is the footbridge over the stream to the outstanding neighboring pub.

The staff were all really sweet. Room was very pleasant with the standard amenities. We even ate at the restaurant which was really good!

Roomy

Air conditioning was not working. Staff unable to fix this. Provided a fan. Outside area decorated with plastic flowers. Overall area needed painting.

Although it was an older property, the setting is delightful. Rocking chairs out front gave a good view.

The property seemed a little run down. Breakfast alluded to online is unavailable this year. The friendly staff made up for any failures though.

nice setting. roomy. Like the rustic, homey, atmosphere. Excellent restaurant next door.

$30 bucks a night for our dog.

Close to Williamstown

They say breakfast 8-10am, but there was none. I never saw one staff person, at night or during the day. I saw a light on in the office but no one would answer the door. Very strange. Room had a musty, old smell, not to my liking at all.

It was surrounded by nature and the staff was very nice.

It was dirty and there were so many bugs in the room.

not updated. spiders cobwebs. remote did't work. 2 wall lamps not operational. junky roller shades on windows . Grounds and signage poorly lit. Cost far exceeded quality.

This was a great experience. Hotel had so much charm. It was very clean. It was very old style reminiscent of travel motels from the 60s. Staff was incredible. Restaurant next door was excellent. Would definitely stay here again!

Some of the outlets were a little loose.

It was rustic but clean. Quiet. Beautiful location, but a bit close to a busy road. Pub had great food and drinks!

Pool was unusable.

Clean! Picturesque rural setting. Nice bar restaurant, part of inn. Refrigerator in room.

No breakfast. Only coffee from your room.

TV never worked at all said would fix but TV would not work and never offered alternative services for TV just said I would have to deal with it

I had a hard time opening the door . The key wasn't working. Finally somehow it opened and when I went to the restaurant , I didn't dare lock it with the key, lest I get locked out with no one around to help. So I left the door slightly cracked open.

It was in a beautiful area, and both the building and the room were pretty. I liked the river/brook running through the property, and the 6 House Pub was also great!

Looks like it's from the TV show Twin Peaks. Right out of your vintage vacation dreams! Hopefully the free breakfast will be back in full swing soon, Covid sucks.

My only issue is I wish you could open the back window in the living/sleeping area. Who needs aircon this time of year?

Beautiful location with a GREAT free breakfast. We love the restaurant food in the evening it is delicious and if you are tired you can order it to go and bring it back to your room. We have been going here for years and we love the location & the stream

My pet peeve is the Comfortor/Blanket. I like nice new white comforters and they don't have them, which is OK, BUT, they are too old need a refresher. The sheets were crisp.

staff is great

Beds were ROCK hard, alone with small Hard pillows. the worst hotel stay ever. I have been there many times before. when I brought it to the staff's attention. they just said thanks for letting me know. not good
