the breakfast
Location is great, staff were polite and professional. Room was well appointed, quite, clean and comfortable. Price was excellent. Breakfast was typical for this level of hotel, heavy on carbs, but fresh fruit, yogurt, and the coffee was excellent.

The front desk staff tried to remedy the1st room with barf on the sheets with a 2nd room(albeit my 81 year old mom had to pack up ALL her things and change rooms at midnight) and then the front desk staff came & cleaned the poopy toilet in the 2nd room.
It is the nicest hotel in the area. The staff and accommodations are excellent. The hotel is still new enough to not be showing much wear and tear.

Location, free breakfast, free parking and pool were all great. Having the Kansas Star Casino right there was a plus too as it gave me somewhere close by to check out after my kids went to bed.

Good location
Breakfast was the best we had on our trip! Biscuits and gravy were spot on, bacon, eggs, good coffee and juices. The nearby town has some great dinner options too!

The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The hotel looks well-maintained and in good condition. Parking is plentiful. The "free" breakfast was standard fare, however, it did lack a toaster and a variety of breads or bagels.
The staff was helpful and friendly. The location was good.

Clean rooms and breakfast in the morning. Check out time is at noon, not 11:00 like most other hotels.
The staff was great. And breakfast didn't disappoint either. The Western omelet and rotation of waffle mixes was very nice (cinnamon roll was best).
Staff was very friendly. They could not program room key cards because of a problem with the system. They were great about unlocking the room every time. Kudos to the staff.

Top Tips
- Book 60 to 180 days ahead for the Walnut Valley Festival in late September, as this annual event drives peak demand and local hotel rooms often sell out quickly or see rate increases. Check cancellation policies before booking to allow for flexibility if plans change.
- Plan 30 to 60 days ahead for Southwestern College major events in May (commencement) and late August (semester start), as these periods raise demand for local accommodations. Confirm event schedules directly with Southwestern College to avoid incorrect travel dates.
- Fly into Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport (ICT) and plan for the 50-mile (80 km), 50 to 60-minute drive to Winfield, as ride-hail services and public transportation outside of Wichita are limited. Consider booking a rental car in advance to ensure reliable ground transport.
- Expect Kansas state sales tax of 6.5% on lodging, and check your booking for any additional local occupancy or transient taxes from Winfield or Cowley County. Review your total rate breakdown before confirming your reservation to avoid surprises at check-in.
- For consistent business Wi-Fi, select a chain-branded property and request current upload/download speeds directly from the hotel. To minimize noise, request a room located away from vending or ice machines.
- If step-free access is needed, request a ground-floor accessible room or confirm in advance whether an elevator is available, as several local hotels use low-rise motel-style layouts without lifts. Mention any specific accessibility requirements when booking to support a more comfortable stay.
- Most downtown Winfield restaurants close by 8 or 9 PM on weekdays, and late-night shopping is limited. If arriving after these hours, consider stocking up in Wichita or stopping en route for food and essentials.
