    Pros +

    • Not cookie cutter style.
    • Clean, great location and a very different experience than the chain hotels. Its a Hidden Gem, do yourself a favor and check it out!
    • Quaint

    Cons -

    • Room 1 was located next to bar, I'd suggest staying in a room away from bar on Friday and Saturday.
    • Let's put it this way, this wasn't about the money or the room, etc. this was about the noise. The noise was beyond expectations. The dog yelping and barking could be heard from the front door.Even though it was 1915, no check in person or employee was present who could help or answer questions. The office was locked. It makes sense why you want to do the pre-check-in and then a code, which was supposed to start if you were checking in after nine. It's because there was no one present who works there, except your food servers, and bartender who said the band was due to startThere was a lg table right in the entrance full of pp who were louder than any concert. It really doesn't matter about the room. We were there less than 5 minutes, because we were at hour 20 out of 24 driving over 2 days. NO where on your property info was a live band advertised...on Saturday or otherwise, the band had not played yet but the bartender told us would shortly. Be more transparent for guests, figure out the noise issue. We are not drinkers but was planning on eating...however we could not hear ourselves talking. The review stands. The first call was to booking and the AGENT could not hear me until I went outside. All in all, this was a huge stress for us. We are in our 70s. We're tired and hungry and we're looking forward to staying at what we felt was going to be a fun day. We ended up having to find another hotel, with few area options. The facility mentioned the bands are advertised on Facebook. We do have or use Facebook. Transparency needs to be part of the Booking feed for this facility. I would never have booked this, but was using the information available on Booking and the facilities website. After all you can only make decisions with the information you have. I do have a video of the noise level….The facility stated they asked Booking.com to refund. “They do not have the funds”
    • The area is pretty bare and there was a guy in the restaurant (not an employee) that was a bit weird.

It felt like a comfortable place to be. Like a home not a hotel.

The area is pretty bare and there was a guy in the restaurant (not an employee) that was a bit weird.

Breakfast was very good. Free regular coffee if you stayed over night. Engaging staff. Rooms have lots of space. Large bathroom and walk in shower. Fried with freezer space is a bonus. Four small bottled waters were appreciated. Loved the vintage decor.

    Pillows weee a bit firm.

Prairie Rose was the perfect stay! It was so cute, really spacious and very comfortable. The vintage decor in each room is unique and different, so it made us feel like we were staying in someone’s home. It has everything you need too: Rose’s morning cafe, Rosie’s bar & grill, and even an RV park out back and a dog park across the street! Kudos to whoever designed this place. It is lovely, the food was delicious, and the price was on point!

The rooms were clean and well furnished.

There was no TV in the bedroom area, only in the sitting room. Breakfast was told to us to be 7.00 per person per day, but when we went to eat the next morning we were given a menu with different prices. When we said something about the 7.00 meal for motel guests. The young girl behind the counter said she did not know anything about that.

Very quaint, farm-antique style furnishings with good space and value. Staff were excellent.Restaurant had a good selection, bar was a nice add and the walk up breakfast-coffee window had a great am offering

Could post internet info in room

It was easy to get into our room, even after the check-in period ended. The rooms are HUGE and very well-furnished. It’s very modern despite the rustic aesthetic. It is conveniently right off I-70 too.

The service at the (paid) breakfast was a bit awkward and slow. Checkout was rather early too, though they were able to accommodate a later checkout request.

Friendly staff. Good food. Park close by. Rural. Fun furnishing with repurposed pieces. Comfy bed.

    It was all wonderful.

Room furnished with period pieces. Good shower. Very nice staff. Free coffee in restaurant.

Strong deodorizer used in room, which was sort of gross. We stay at a lot of retro motels and this one is in the middle of the pack.

Not a cookie cutter chain hotel - local flavor and style. High quality furnishings, etc.

Fairly expensive breakfast options. Breakfast bagel fine though.

    10SusanPosted on: 3-23-2025

This is a renovation done with love. The staff were so welcoming. The bar had a great old fashioned. It was fun to see the staff excited about their little hotel.

Too much light came in under the door from the hall.

Small 18 rooms, one level and restaurant and breakfast located there

    7ElizabethPosted on: 2-19-2025

Very comfy bed, bedding and pillows, good water pressure, cute decor in room, convenient location.

WINDOW DID NOT LOCK!! That is unacceptable. Additionally, we did not realize the bar was attached to the inn (you use the same entrance and almost walk thru the bar to get to room). We arrived around 11pm after a long day of driving eager to get into bed and sleep before another full day on the road. We were in bed by 11:15, but THE CACKLING, LAUGHING, AND TAKING FROM THE BAR KEPT US UP UNTIL MIDNIGHT. While everything else was great (perhaps a favorite bed, bedding, and pillow combo), I couldn't recommend staying here due to the bar noise and concern about the unlocked windows keeping us up. If they fix the window and put in a wall with a door to the two hallways with rooms to deaden the noise, I would stay here all the time when driving through.

Comfy mattress, excellent bathrooms, and nice to have a bar and grill on site.

Everything!! The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere was very home like and my kids and I LOVED the buckeye room! It was so close to the wedding and reception we went to! Would 1000% recommend to ANYONE traveling this way! Definitely worth the price!

    10CharlesPosted on: 9-26-2024

Breakfast menu excellent. Complementary coffee. Very competent staff.

    9JanetPosted on: 9-16-2024

Breakfast option was fantastic. All staff very helpful and accommodating. Room styles and decorations were wonderful! Truly unique, inviting and comfortable.

For older guests, have better instructions for accessing local tv stations. My parents are in their 80s. If I hadn't helped them find the local stations, they would not have watched tv.
