    Pros +

    • Excellent location in thr heart of Santa Barbara on State Street. The accommodations were amazing and given the "hostel" setting more than expected. This was a joy. The staff were friendly helpful patient and went above for my late arrival ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
    • There was nothing best to like. It Wasn't a hotel with individual rooms
    • This is a basic hostel in a pod formation. It was great that there was a sliding door on my pod that I could close for some privacy. Not all have this feature, so ask for one of those. Its in the best location in downtown SB on State. I stayed here due to the confluence of UCSB Parent weekend and a half marathon which pushed motels in the area over $500/night. If you need a place to just rest your head for the night its a descent option. But remember you are in a hostel. People were very respectful though, and the staff were fantastic.

    Cons -

    • No exceptional on all fronts.
    • I could not stay there. I had to book another hotel last minute
    • Its a hostel. If you know that going in, you'll be fine. Set that expectation. But it was clean, and staff were accommodating and helpful.

Facility is excellent. Designed carefully, minimalistic but sufficient. Everything is maintained well and clean.

Both staffs have their own problems. The girl working remotely is extremely rude. The guy on the property doesn’t care about customers and irresponsible. Actually both of them don’t care about customers.

    :

Noise and no skirt or anything for privacy, the AC was off all night and it was hot, noise from the door slamming and no policy for any snoring sleeper, The kitchen and laundry was a mess, i did not like to light on and off schedule as it can be solve by adding something to cover up the bed, the bed was not the most comfortable

In a safe centralized area on State Street in Santa Barbara. Next to a very nice shopping and food. Secure entrance with a code is needed which keeps you feeling safe.Very neat, very clean and quiet. From beds with your name written over it, welcoming you, to shared kitchen Facilities that are clean and beautiful bathrooms with showers. Lights out at 10, but you can still be on your phone with the ringer on silent in your pod. Lights don’t go back on until 10 AM if you wanna sleep in a little.

The only thing that is not too convenient is you have to park a little distance away but it’s not that far at all. Pretty much $20 overnight parking.

For back packers & travelers without a car, it’s a great central location.

The pods are clever disguised with artificial leaves, but a shutter or curtain type that allows for complete privacy is better. The laundry area needs to stop after 10PM until 8AM for sleeping purposes. Needs shower door or curtain. Adequate for the price but no thrill. I’d delete the claim of “first hostel” on State St, for “only hostel” on State Street.

It looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned since they opened. There is no privacy at all and too much noise and light since it’s one open space and bed and reception and so on are in the same area. The door didn’t lock the first night and we found out there were complains before we arrived and it wasn’t fixed. There are homeless in the street and some where even looking inside (via the huge window) so we were scared of them trying to come in at night. The door lock was fixed for the second night but still… I wouldn’t recommend this place at all unless you really can’t afford anything else.. and it should be way cheaper than it is.

The location was great. There were lots of restaurants, bars and shopping steps from the entrance to the place. There was even a big farmers market Saturday morning. I enjoyed meeting people from other countries and listening to their experiences. I felt safe, which was important being a single female traveling by myself.

Parking was a little wonky since there is no private parking for this location. I was worried about getting a ticket since they only had 75 minute parking nearby, so I woke up earlier than needed to move my truck. ( There was an unstaffed public parking lot you could pay to park at, but it was a little further away)

    Location. Comfortable bed.

Zero privacy. Communal hang out area was very awkward to climb up to.

How did I like the breakfast? There was no breakfast! There was not even coffee in the morning. Not even instant coffee left out to make. And nothing very close by where you can get coffee early. Location is all this place has. But it does have location. No ocean view, but possibally the next best for SB.

No coffee in the morning. No place to sit and drink it anyway.I almost got a bag stolen (apparently organized and coordinated by other guests (agents?) - I caught them, at 5am in the morning - all awake who were involved; my bag was out in the middle of the hallway, two of them walking by it in different directions, and another walking in from outside 1 minute later). There is zero privacy, in fact people outside (streetview) can see everything, even in your sleeping area. There is no common room to hang out in. Not even a place to sit down and eat. I put down a deposit and am now having a difficult time getting it back. For no reason involving the stay, nor my disatisfaction with the place. I had said nothing. Social Stays set up a repeat payment on the deposit at the time the deposit went in. I have taken off the repeat staus, they keep putting it back on. This repeat deposit status is being disputed. The return of my deposit (minus $7 for doing laundry) is now also in dispute.AND THE WORST thing about this place: there are little wooden windows about 12"x12", which open up into each pod!! I opened one and it led to a hidden stairway which went down (bed #4 if anyone wants to check it out). VERY CREEPY.

I don't have breakfast and someone stole gas out of my car.parked on the front lot.

Need more lighting outside to dark.

    In Center street

It was super cold during my stay (November) , no heating and opened window. Beds has no curtains, so there is really 0 privacy. There is just 2 bathrooms with 3 toilets (together) for large capacity of persons, so it can be problem in bussy hours. Also bathrooms has no curtains for shower, so water is everywhere and you mess your socs and don't have place tu put your clothes around, so it is quite uncomfortable.

Reasonable pricing, good location, and kind a homey. Or dormitory format, but still enjoyable.

    Not enough staff around

    10MichaelPosted on: 10-25-2024

The staff was top notch. So accommodating. Made sure I had everything I needed. Made sure guests were comfortable. Pleasure to hang out with.

    Lack of curtains for privacy

Veneered spacious pods with lots of storage compartments & shelves in a sesismic-retrofitted building. It's located in the midst of lively restaurants, bars & shopping.
