    Pros +

    • We loved the history of the hotel. The hotel is well kept up for an adobe built in the early 1800s. The room was clean (which is 100% what I look for at every hotel). Dee (Hotel Manager) is a wonderful host. We will be staying here again.
    • The location is perfect. Wonderful staff. Very quaint hotel!
    • The hotel manager bends over backwards to make your stay pleasant. When I arrived, he brought my parking pass out to the car. When I departed at 10am, and had missed breakfast, he went to the kitchen with me to prepare a generous to-go bag and coffee.

    Cons -

    • Nothing! This hotel is wonderful.
    • The room was small and did not have a TV or a clothes closet. Good for short trip but maybe not so for longer stays. Not sure how the larger rooms are.
    • Not being able to open the windows made the room smell kind of musty.

I love Old Town. We were in room 9 up stairs front . It was clean, quiet and a great location. Our room was the California room, it came with a queen bed and a claw foot tub. We had a great view of the park, close to all the stores and Restaurants

    WiFi was very spotty,.

Historic beauty perfectly, tastefully maintained in top condition in a beautiful, peaceful part of the middle of the city. Really nice staff and a great continental breakfast room. Whoa! and a great shower!

location, cleaning staff Free breakfast with fresh fruit (melon)

Bed was terrible. Soft saggy mattress with no back support. We received no help in trying to find another room/alternative bedding. Coffee okay, but scones, yogurt, granola way too sweet/sugary.

I love the decor and the free breakfast.

There was no hand soap available in the bathroom to wash your hands with.

The theme was charming ad fitting for the location.

They failed to emphasize their "special guests" that inhabit the hotel. My wife and I were looking for a place to relax and get some rest, not the most haunted room in the hotel.

    The history

The room had a strong musty odor

Location good for my trip needs.A plus would be its quaintness...but I do not need quaint.

I did not know there was no TV. Location was central, but noisy, No hangers for clothes, only hooks. Bed too soft (but that is personal).Woman serving coffee in the morning was nice, but WAS NOT GOING TO SERVE ME UNTIL 8a.m. All I hoped for was a cup of coffee, but she does not understand the "guest" thing, only her job thing.

Dee was an excellent host and it was a fun experience!

The sink hot water had low pressure but the showers worked great. No other issue and wasn't even a big deal.

Hotel was as beautiful (if not more) inside as it was outside. Staff was very kind. Appreciated that there was designated parking for hotel guests as Old Town parking can get very packed and hard to find. Definitely would stay here again.

I liked that it is a historic hotel in a historic location. The rooms were decorated according to the time period & warm and cozy with a balcony with tablle & chairs. Dee was very friendly and helpful. There were scones & coffee for breakfast. There were also main rooms downstairs with interesting displays & signs about the history of the hotel. I love having stayed at a motel where people who rode in stageccoaches stayed, and that there were both Californio (Mmexican) & American owners.

    Historic, comfortable, and conveniently located.

Not well-protected from outside noise. Continental breakfast was underwhelming.

Lovely historic hotel with a warm room and big comfortable bed. I loved it. You are staying in an original building so be prepared to go back in time as far as decor, furniture and especially bathroom are concered. But that's part of the fun! Modest breakfast of coffee and pastries taken in an original dining area. The location was excellent, right amongst the historic buildings in the area. Bars and dining opportunities nearly and a nice little hiking trail nearby for some early morning exercise. A short walk to the light rail station which takes you to 'downtown' within minutes.

Upon arrival, in the dark, tired after a seven hour bus ride, I found the hotel was completely locked up and though some lights were on there was no other signs of life. Obviously this was cause for concern. Another couple arrived and found a sign saying 'ring this number' - which went straight to answering machine. Not a good sign and I began thinking we had been scammed. Eventually the number was answered by a gentleman who was managing a nearby restaurant. He arrived soon after, unlocked the side gate and we were allowed in. Not exactly the 'warm welcome' you would hope for.

Dee welcomed us with open arms, he was very friendly and informative. Felt like family welcoming us home! Room was clean, comfortable, and location is the best to explore old town. Walking distance to train/trolly to all other attractions in San Diego and to airport. Highly recommend!

    Perfect location. Great staff.

Shower head way up over head. No way to keep your hair dry. Hand held is always better.

We love the location because of its proximity to the train station and you are in the middle of Old town SD. Service is great and this time we were only there for an overnight stay. We have stayed there before and we love it . I just wished they had a room with a king size bed :)
