About
Built in 1924, this historic Palo Alto hotel is just 1 mi from Stanford University. Guests can enjoy dining at Bistro Maxine, located next door. A flat-screen TV and dark wood furniture are found in each bright, decorative room of the nonsmoking Cardinal Hotel. A work desk and an iron are also included. Bistro Maxine serves both traditional and continental breakfasts each morning. Lunch, dinner and dessert crepes are also offered. Guests of the Cardinal can enjoy free weekday newspapers as well as coffee, tea and cocoa in the lobby. A business center is available as well. The Palo Alto Caltrain Station is an 8-minute walk from the hotel. The San Francisco International Airport is less than 21 miles away.

- great staff!!! good location in the heart of Palo Alto. walking distance to much, including Stanford campus
- Everything all be it the bathrooms and showers were off the room the hotel was excellent
- Conveniently located in downtown Palo Alto, where thereâ≢s a variety of restaurants/foods. Itâ≢s about 5 min away from Stanford Hospital, which was the reason for our stay. The bed was firm and comfortable; the TV was huge. Room & restroom were very cle

- We wouldâ≢ve been more comfortable if there was air conditioning and an en suite restroom (we had to go out in the hall where the shared restroom was located).
- The elevator's a bit odd, but it works fine. I guess I'd just love to see a bizarre and slightly scary night man operating the elevator, just for the effect. But you can't win 'em all.
