    Cons -

    • It was said that Sea View - There was no sea view and could not see the Sea from the room, all covered with a bush Suite - I was expecting at least a microwave and a refrigerator with a $--- per night, Nothing was there.
    • I¿m sorry to review but our room smelled extremely strong of mold and musty, I requested another room but we¿re unable to accommodate, I have really bad allergies and get migraine. This was a huge trigger and I honestly feel is unsafe for anyone.
    • Pretty much everything. Website doesn¿t show the true place. Showed restaurant/ bar and had nothing. Smelled really musty and old. Hopefully someone will buy the place and fix it up. Website VERY MISLEADING!

Beautiful location, cheaper than most hotels in the area, Lovely garden and patio area.

The beds are atrocious!!!!! If you have a bad back DO NOT STAY here.

Wonderful ¿old world¿ hotel. We loved the friendly front desk staff, the old fashioned room, the complimentary coffee & tea in the lobby, the location (easy walk to ¿downtown¿ Mendocino) and the quietness of the place.

Location- so close we could walk into town. Very reasonable rates. We will definitely return, if prices do not rise.

    Everything was fine- no complaints.

Charming costal hotel, felt like you were going back in time.

Could have cleaned better, our remote was filthy.

    8JanetPosted on: 8-28-2021

Large room near downtown. Walkable, but still really quiet.

It could use a "refresh", but it worked perfect for me and the price was good.

All of the antique furniture and history was very interesting!

The room had a musty smell, my kids said it might have been coming from the carpet. There was no fan for air circulation.

The charm of this "hotel" makes it worth staying. Its in a great place, only a few walking steps from everything.

There is no Air Conditioning or Fans. It was very hot and had a difficult time sleeping. I understand ACs are not the norm by the coast, but they need something.

    Good location

facilities and cleanliness to be improved

Room was clean, spacious, and the hotel was walking distance to town. Plenty of free parking.

It would be nice to have a restaurant on-site, or breakfast. No real complaints other than you have me linked to another guest in your records. I'm not from Norwalk CT. Very nice hotel when staying in Mendocino.

Coffee pot was not cleaned every day. Arrived back at hotel to find my door open with the cleaners key left in the lock...... no cleaner to be found!

    Location.

Room was very dated. Check in clerk had no personality whatsoever. Front desk staff need to have at least some personality....

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 5-4-2017

Gorgeous gardens, appealing, quaint, comfortable room, and quick and lovely walk just down the hill to the heart of lovely Mendocino. Coupon for 15% discount for breakfast downtown at the Mendocino Hotel.

A very, very minor inconvenience was that upon our 8 p.m. arrival we had to go the short distance back downtown to the Mendocino Hotel to pick up our keys - apparently because of staff illness, but this seems to be the case if you arrive after 10 p.m.

I really liked the lobby in the main house and although the lounge was closed while we stayed there, it looked like it would be fun to go to. The location is walking distance to downtown and the hotel looks nice from the outside. I enjoyed it.

Room were a little stale and in need of new carpet. Definitely had an "old house" feel. Not bad enough to make me not stay here again, but would improve my stay dramatically if there were newer carpets.

Large, clean room. Easy to park and easy to walk to town. Reasonably priced for the value

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 11-16-2016

ours was a wonderful stay at hill house inn. our king-sized bed was comfortable. our room was quiet. and best of all, the entire lovely town of mendocino (shops and restaurants) was within easy walking distance.

    8Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 10-25-2016

Great location. Very clean, comfortable beds. Good shower. Internet was OK, not super fast.

There was no staff on the premises after 10pm. It's necessary to go to another hotel in the town to pick up keys after 10. The room was expensive and not so luxurious, and no breakfast was included.

    9Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 10-22-2016

Location, and they allowed us to use the microwave in the breakfast room. Nice and quiet, and the breakfast room has a great view. No breakfast provided, but we need to make our own anyway.

A few small issues with equipment-- handle fell off armoire and could not be screwed on, coffee carafe lid was broken, no extra toilet paper, but these are small things.
