    Pros +

    • Room decor and wonderful breakfast
    • The atmosphere is exceptional, just to relax. Super dog friendly
    • I love that the hotel was so quaint and historic. The breakfast was amazing and they did not mind substituting the meats with other proteins - delicious!

    Cons -

    • Some little thinks needs to be repaired but this did not bother me
    • had to carry a big suitcase up the stairs since there are no elevators. some days do not serve dinner so we thankfully ate leftovers from that day from our restaurant since we did not want to go back out and there was not much open in the little town.
    • Checked in at 3:30 no one at the desk just an envelope with your name on it. We found the room went back to get the Wi-Fi code. No one around. Next day there was a bell to ring and they did respond to that. The room had a stuffed chair and a bench, no chairs.

The McCloud Hotel is a 10/10 in my book. The front desk reception has a number you can text with any questions. Even before our trip, I had my questions answered about road conditions and whether we’d be able to reschedule if my sick dog couldn’t be boarded. All the answers came quickly and graciously. The hotel itself is gorgeous, historic and is full of charm. I particularly love the antique, but comfortable furniture that makes sitting with a good book and a cup of tea the perfect afternoon. We stayed in room 228, which has a king-sized bed and a daybed with pull-out trundle. We chose it because it has a nice table for two, where we got to enjoy some reading time. Bonus points for the shower: the water temperature gets nicely hot and the water pressure is pleasantly strong. Sage, the onsite restaurant, is a must-try. The food is delicious, comes in good portions and is very fairly priced. I particularly loved the mushroom polenta. I highly recommend making your dinner reservations as soon as you book your stay here. It’s a very popular restaurant. We were fortunate enough to stay here when they offered a special afternoon tea. Sandwiches, scones and pastries. Yum!

The breakfast was fantastic. Lots to choose from. all delicious. Great location in the lobby.

We have stayed there on numerous occasions and every time it has been great.

The breakfast was really nice. They go above and beyond to put out a nice spread. Way better than what a Best Western would offer.

The bed was a little uncomfortable. A little too soft for us and I would have preferred little carpets on each side of the bed.

Bed was comfortable, good location not far from down town Mount Shasta and Interstate 5.

The place needs some TLC outside and inside. It served the purpose while we were there but not sure if I would rebook in the future.

Beautiful old (1900s) hotel in a very small town in the forest

For $300/night one doesn’t like being given only one bar of soap and one small packet of shampoo for two people for 4 nights. I had to ask that we be given new towels and never received the requested more soap and shampoo. I think a lot of hotels now don’t clean the rooms and make the beds not because of concerns for Covid but just to save money.

    The food was very good

The room was completely different from all others we saw and although the largest and most costly- it was extremely dated and had clean but stained and damaged materials.

Excellent food and Chef. The outside seating areas are beautiful,

Some of the wait staff and bartenders are not the nicest. They scowl and act like questions are an imposition. It really detracts from the beautiful environment you have created, Mabe they need a customer service fresh up.

Room was nice, great bathtub. Staff were very friendly. Had a nice chat with the owner. Meal at Sage was fantastic. Very quiet for a good night's rest.

Super comfortable bed. Very quiet, charming hotel.

Room needed maintenance. Bathroom floor dirty. Called for two days and maibox was full. Pretty much self serve hotel. Should have coffee in lobby earlier than 8am

I love the traditional feel, the proprietors were lovely and we were made to feel welcome from the whole town. It really was a lovely place to stay.

Location was perfect, the owners were friendly and helpful.

Due to understaffing, the restaurant inside the hotel was not open.
