The staff was very accommodating and kind. The meals were also excellent.
the owner went the extra mile to make sure we were well taken care of. The on-line service overbooked the hotel and there was only one room for the 4 of us traveling. He took 2 of us to his home so we had a place to stay!! We love Scotland.

Location and faclities
The Corriegarth is a charming 6 room hotel with a restaurant and pub on ground floor. Location is convenient to several landmarks and just a 10 min walk from train and bus stations. Very hospitable. They left tea and other treats as a welcome gift.

The location is perfect! Very close to everything and no more than a 15min walk from anywhere you had want to go in Inverness.

Excellent restaurant although limited choice of mains. Extensive hot and cold breakfast buffet, meats were sometimes a little dried or overdone. Staff were excellent, fun, friendly and could not do enough for us.

Top Tips
- Book your Inverness hotel 3-6 months ahead for stays from May to September, when demand and rates rise, or reserve at least 6-12 weeks in advance for major festivals. This increases your chance of preferred room types and comparative savings during peak periods.
- Arrange transport in advance. Confirm shuttle service schedule and book with your hotel, as options may be limited. A taxi from Inverness Airport (11 km/7 mi to city centre) typically costs £15-£20 (approx. $19 to $25 USD, subject to exchange rates) and takes about 25 minutes.
- Pack layers and waterproof clothing for year-round wind and rain in Inverness. Summer highs average just 16°C (61°F). If you plan outdoor activities, choose hotels with drying rooms or ask about laundry facilities.
- When interacting with hotel staff, use 'please' and 'thank you'. Tipping 10-15% is customary for good service in restaurants and bars; verify if a service charge is on your bill. Observe quiet hours (typically 22:00-23:00) to respect fellow guests.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speed and reliability directly with your hotel, since rural Highland areas can have variable mobile coverage. Signal is usually stronger near Inverness Airport but may drop further out.
- Check if your hotel offers onsite parking or EV charging and confirm any fees or advance reservation policy. Most UK hotels require guests to drive on the left; review signage and local rules if renting a car.
- For accessible accommodation, request ground-floor rooms or those with step-free access in advance. Many historic Inverness hotels lack lifts. Inquire about visual alarms or adapted bathrooms if needed.
- Choose flexible or refundable rates that allow cancellation until 24-48 hours before arrival, especially if travel plans depend on flight schedules or weather. Always verify cancellation deadlines directly with your hotel.
- Ask about local experiences at the front desk. Some hotels offer whisky tastings or can book Loch Ness tours. For Highland cuisine, enjoy a 15-20 minute taxi ride to city centre restaurants offering fresh seafood and regional dishes.
- For early flights or tours, request early or packed breakfast options, as Scottish hotel breakfast service start times vary. Top hotel brands may offer an express grab-and-go from as early as 05:00.
- Provide valid photo ID, such as a passport (international guests) or UK driving licence, along with your card for incidentals on check-in. Currency is Pounds Sterling (£); check if your hotel accepts foreign cards or digital wallets.
- Reserve family amenities—such as cribs or extra beds—when you book, as availability is limited in smaller Inverness hotels. Confirm any fees or age limits; some brands offer complimentary children's stays up to a set age.
- For business stays, verify in advance if the hotel provides meeting rooms, printing, and reliable Wi-Fi. Request an itemized invoice for VAT claims, a standard service at most international brands.
- Check if your hotel offers luggage storage before and after check-in. Large chains usually do, but smaller B&Bs may not have the space. Ask about secure storage if carrying valuables.
- If sensitive to aircraft noise, request a room on the side away from the runway or check guest reviews for soundproofing feedback. Hotels within 2 km of Inverness Airport may have noticeable take-off or landing noise at peak times.
