It is so charming-antique furniture, brick interior walls, claw foot tub, beautiful antique rugs. Highly recommend over the ho-hum chains. Our room opened up onto the brick garden. We were there visiting the Missouri State Fair.

Top Tips
- During the Missouri State Fair in August, hotel rates in Sedalia can increase by 30-50%. Book at least 2-3 months ahead to secure availability and better rates near venues such as the State Fairgrounds.
- Reserve a rental car early for Sedalia, as public transit is limited and taxi or rideshare waits are typically 15-30 minutes outside major event times. Car rentals provide the most reliable way to access attractions during periods of high demand.
- Check that your hotel offers complimentary parking and high-speed Wi-Fi before arrival. Wi-Fi speeds and parking for oversize vehicles vary by property, so verify these amenities if you have special requirements.
- Read recent guest reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, or Booking.com to confirm cleanliness, staff service scores, and the property's current condition before booking.
- Expect to pay an additional 13-15% state and local lodging tax on your hotel bill in Missouri. Clarify with hotels about any extra fees for parking, pets, or resort services to avoid surprises.
- Follow standard U.S. tipping etiquette by leaving $2-5 per day for housekeeping and $1-2 per bag for bell staff. Tipping in cash at the time of service is appreciated.
- Most hotels require a government-issued photo ID and a matching credit or debit card for check-in and incidental authorization. Confirm accepted payment types if using a non-U.S. card.
- Ask hotel staff for local food and activity suggestions. Many can recommend Missouri BBQ spots within 2-3 miles and provide directions to attractions such as the Katy Trail State Park.
- Quiet hours at Sedalia hotels usually run from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Request a room away from the lobby or event areas if you are sensitive to noise, especially during the fair.
- Sedalia is considered safe, but keep vehicles locked and avoid leaving valuables visible inside. If you arrive late, request parking in a well-lit area.
- Families may benefit from hotels with indoor pools, microwaves, or connecting rooms. Business travelers should verify availability of in-room workspaces or onsite printing before booking.
- If you need step-free access or accessible rooms, call the hotel before booking to verify ADA-compliant features such as elevator access or visual alarms. Some older buildings offer limited accessibility.
- Most Sedalia hotels removed COVID-19 restrictions by mid-2024, but some still provide hand sanitizer stations or guidance in public spaces. Confirm current health protocols directly with the hotel if this is a concern.
